A great short break we would definatley go back food was very good, we had our dinner in the restaurant however they can serve your evening meal on their canal side boat (will try this next time we visit)

It is only a short walk into Chester town centre, so this makes it a very good location.

All these reviews I have read saying stuff, did you look behind the bed and furniture? look in the bathrooms ? so so dated OMG I have never seen so much filler used in a bathroom !! wall paper peeling off Never hovered behind anything in the room radiators OFF and cold wind coming through the windows!!!!!!!! Staff were wonderful but no room for residents in the restaurant??? advised to eat elsewhere???? all these reviews must be blind and happy to stay in dust and cold. Hey up to you but we will never ever go if its the last place to stay rather drive home
They did not charge us and we travelled home spolit our overnight stay :-(

Room Tip: there are much better places to stay

We re-visited the Mill Hotel again this week to celebrate my wife`s birthday. We have been a number of times before and we thought the overall high standard had been maintained. Our room in the "new" block across the canal was excellent with good access to the leisure club and the swimming pool which we made full use of. The 2 night deal (at £194) included dinner from the table d`hote menu on one evening - our meal was superb with a good range of choices. The hotel reception staff were most helpful and accomodating as were the restaurant and leisure centre staff. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Chester City, only a few minutes walk away with all of its attractions, both historical and cultural or you can "shop till you drop" either in the city or catch the bus to Chester Oaks which is just north 15-20 minutes away. Only downsides - could the hotel provide ground coffee at breakfast and dinner rather than instant - and could the toast at breakfast wait until customers request it rather than putting it in tables allowing it to go cold? We will certainly recommend to our friends and family and will return!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the city bypass which runs alongside the annexe across the canal.

Booked over the phone and staff really helpful. We had 'Club Room' which was wonderful. Most comfortable bed we ever slept in I think. Plenty of space in room and well appointed. Restaurant very good. Bar meal excellent value and too much to eat. The pool was OK but could do with some 'loungers' Couldn't fault the hotel and would recommend to anyone. Will definitely stay there on next visit to Chester. Bob and Gill Barrett

Having stayed there three time previously, we chose the Mill Hotel as the place for my wife's 50th birthday celebration along with 16 family members and friends 6th and 7th January. Everybody seemed very pleased with the standard of room and we spent the first afternoon relaxing in the pool and then the bar. We had a meal for 16 booked in the Canaletto Restaurant and everybody agreed that both the standard of food and the service in the restaurant was excellent. To be honest the food in this restaurant is always very good and is well worth the money. We ate out on Saturday night at Sergios which was good but we had to wait over an hour for a table despite making a reservation 5 days in advance.
We had lunch in the hotel bar Friday, Saturday and Sunday(watching the City vs Utd game) and we enjoyed the lively and friendly atmosphere in the hotel bar and the great choice of beers, wines, snacks, and the friendly service provided by the bar staff. I would also add that the drink prices for a hotel are very reasonable - I paid for all the drinks for the birthday dinner and the bill was OK.
There is no doubt that this is a very well run hotel, that maintains high standards which is why this was our 4th visit. One slight disappoint which surprised me - I thought that the Hotel could have acknowledged my wife's birthday by maybe leaving a small gift in the room for example some chocolates or maybe a bottle of wine.
Overall the Mill Hotel proved to be a great choice for a family celebration and we have left with many happy memories.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the canal, but away from the main road
