“Charmingly English”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012

Our choir spent four nights here during a trip to sing at Chester Cathedral. Our dinner on the
first night featured choices such as seabass, chicken in a white wine sauce, duck appetizer and
I must say that the sticky toffee pudding was just what the doctor ordered. Everything was
served efficiently and with good humor.

Our breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs that were actually cooked, very good croissants,
and a selection of cereals and meats along with unlimited pots of coffee and tea.

The front desk personnel were gracious and professional, especially since we
were such a large group. They helped us print a picture from an email on their little
office printer saving us from a very big headache that evening.

The bar was spacious, with wi-fi and a nice selection of drinks including a good number
of English beers on tap. An extra experience was the L-eau T Cuisine river cruiser, which
hosted us for dinner. Again, the food was very good and served by a professional staff; the captain was amusing and welcoming and made the trip memorable even when the walls seemed a little close for this claustrophobe.

The hotel is very central - five minute walk to "the Wall" and close to restaurants and shops.
When I return to England, I will make this one of my stops - Chester is a charming town with
delightful residents and plenty of history for those of us who love learning about the past.

Because of the poor weather a festival was cancelled so we decided at the last minute to stay in Chester. The Mill Hotel had been recommended and we were able to book a room. The hotel is just off the city centre, not far to walk to shops and restaurants. Very pleasant and helpful staff, no problems there. We used the excellent Spa. Our room was in the older part of the hotel, no airconditioning and a noisy road outside meant we were uncomfortably hot.
Maybe it is time that the hotel was refurbished, one lift was out of order as was one flight of stairs. The remaining lift developed a personality problem and went where it wanted.

Room Tip: Book early and make sure you are in the newer block.

The hotel is in a perfect location around 5 minutes or so walk into the main town of Chester. The added bonus of free parking makes this hotel very attractive, the swimming pool and gym are also great. The staff are excellent, friendly and polite, we asked for a fan for our room and one was delivered 5 minutes later. The restaurant at the hotel serves fantastic food and is particularly good for vegetarians, the restaurant cruiser is a definite must-do, a brilliant time, the Captain is a good laugh and makes you feel very welcome on board. We hired 3 club-class rooms for a short family break, they were clean and large and we couldn't of picked a better place to stay. highly recommend The Mill Hotel as a good base to explore Chester, we will return one day,

Room Tip: Club class rooms are definitely worth getting as the

I thoroughly enjoyed my four day stay there on a recent business trip. The best points about the hotel are the staff and the location, just a few minutes stroll along the canal side from the historical and beautiful city centre.

My first room faced the canal, as I'd requested, but unbeknown to me also faced the road and as I am one of those weirdos who has to sleep with the window open, I found it noisy, although the double glazed windows almost completely block the sound if closed. I was moved the next day with the utmost good grace.

I didn't avail myself of the hotel's many amenities or bars and restaurants, apart from taking their dinner cruise which was well organised and fun. I will be back later in the year and with the winter weather won't much feel like going out and I look forward to using the hotel's restaurants, all of which look excellent, and enjoying the breakfasts, which smelt mouth-watering (but I never had time!)

Room Tip: A few of the rooms face the road and may be noisy to those like myself who are hypersensitive to noi...

Stayed for 1 night with a group of eight friends. The rooms are a little bit dated and very warm but a very comfortable bed and it was very clean. The staff are very helpful, professional and friendly. The hotel was very busy and does good food. We stayed in a club class room which is quite big and has everything you need for a short stay. All in all, this is a good hotel and the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it. Perfect central location right next to the canal and in the centre of town without being noisy.

Hotel in a great Location to explore or shop in Chester, Staff very helpful, only minor niggle was the heat in the room (very warm), but when mentioned the staff were willing to de anything they could to improve the situation.
Ten out of ten for customer service.
