booked mickle manor purely on the feedback on trip advisor. I booked the master room for the wifes 50th birhtday and the look on her face when we entered the room was priceless. £20 less per night would get you a nice premier inn or equivilant, but this place is full of 500 year old plus history. Every floorboard squeaks. the double bath, beams in ceiling, 7ft wide bed yup 7 ft wide. we only spent 2 nights there as a base to explore Chester and we could of spent the 2 days exploring mickle manor. A big bless ya luv ya squeeze ya from tashyboy and wife.
PS, Sorry from not signing guest bookn when we left. but we will see you again

Room Tip: pay a couple of quid extra and book the master. if you dont get it dont worry you wont be disappoint...

8 of us stayed here on 9th July 2012, on our way home from a Charity walk of Hadrians Wall Path.
Rooms and facilities were amazing and Sammie the owner was lovely. Can't wait to stay again and visit Chester.

We spent only one night here but will definitely be back! Warm, friendly and a fantastic location. The rooms were brilliant, beds comfortable(almost needed SatNav to find my husband), very good reception on the TV (didn't realise Andy Murray match would coincide with our stay), with Molton Brown accessories in the bathroom; the breakfast (often a topic in my reviews) was excellent!
The advise given by the very ameniable hosts was spot on and we spent a very enjoyable day in Tarpoley. Nothing was too much trouble - thank you for a most enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: We had the Master Bedroom and we could have brought the whole family there was so much room - not th...

We returned to the Manor for our one year wedding anniversary, after originally staying there following our wedding day, and yet again had an amazing weekend. The room and facilities are fabulous, the house and surrounding areas beautiful and the hosts incredibly welcoming and friendly. We were yet again made to feel right at home and relaxed, with wonderful full cooked breakfasts, time in the hot-tub and generally a restful and perfect weekend break. Many thanks to John and Sam etc for a fab time again, good conversations and a wonderful rest. We can't think of a better place we have ever stayed in and will probably be back again in the next year!!

I booked to stay at The Manor after searching Tripadvisor, for a place I could take my wife for a weekend away. After reading the reviews, I booked and I wasn't disappointed. The room was big and extremely comfortable with a balcony overlooking the garden, although the weather wasn't the best for sitting out. The bed was huge, and very comfortable with a larger than I was expecting TV. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, the cake left out for you to help yourself to was delicious, as was the breakfast. Its in a great location central for all the attractions in the area. I would definitely recommend the Manor to anyone, and would definitely go back there again.

Room Tip: Only stayed in the balcony room which was excellent

Our sentiments really echo the majority of these comments, we particularly liked the atmosphere, the homeliness (especially of the homemade bread at breakfast), excellent filter coffee, honesty box for wine from the fridge, all the little touches that made this place a cut above the rest at excellent value for money. We would would go out of our way to make this a stop off on a journey north in the future.
