“40th Birthday”
Reviewed 12 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Have an amazing time time at Rose cottage. Plenty of space for the 12 of us. Pool was perfect for the night day. Entertainment was good with the pool table and games room. We didnt use it but there was a laurndry room. The cottage ifself was modern pictures of the internet dont really show this. It was £10 in a taxi to the town center. Would recommend this place to small and large parties.

“Lovely space, excellent facilities and location.”

A 4-day family break of two families of four and some grandparents saw us book Rose cottage just outside of Chester as our base for operations.

There was a slight booking mixup through no fault of either party really but the owners were excellent in honouring our requirements and we are very grateful for that. A lovely trip was had by all.

House itself is huge, well-equipped, very clean and relatively modern with a huge outdoor space, perfect for tiring out the kids and comfortable beds. Also a good shower/toilet:occupant ratio.

Pool/social area has a small-ish pool which is shared with other rentals in the same plot but is plenty big enough for 3/4 families-worth of fun. Nice and warm and a few good-sized changing cubicles with large, practical ledges to sit children on for changing was a godsend. Also in the rest of the building is lots of books, a pool table, some toys and internet to keep everyone happy and to get the different tenants chatting.

Location is excellent. Walkable local pub, Stamford Bridge was good for food (early, kids are refused after 7ish) and enjoyable for a drink in the large garden. Traffic on the Tarvin road can be a bit of a chore if you hit rush hour but otherwise it's just short hops to the zoo, Chester itself and other local attractions. All are within very easy range.

On to two tiny negatives:
The landings are very creaky both in this house and the one next door which disturbed those sleeping downstairs but on the upside worked well to curb any nighttime gallivanting by the children!
Secondly, the internet is not really worth trying, over the 4 days I never managed a wifi signal within Rose cottage. The pool area wifi was fine.
As mentioned, tiny areas and by no means cast any kind of pall on the trip.

So in summary: excellent - thank you for maintaining such a lovely base for exploring Chester and its surroundings.

Many thanks for your review and feedback. We are pleased you had a great time and hope to welcome you back again in the future. We do have two wifi routers on site but this is now proving insufficient to meet guests' demands. The owner is in the process of sourcing routers for each individual cottage so hopefully this won't be a problem in the future.

“1 week stay at Rose Cottage”
Reviewed 1 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

A lovely spacious property...the perfect size for our party of ten adults. The kitchen was well equipped and both the lounge and dining room were very comfortable and homely. I had looked at previous reviews before we set off, so I made sure we took hand soap, cleaning products, toilet rolls etc with us. There is a vacuum cleaner now and the en-suite is in the process of being refurbished (toilet installed but no shower/sink at time of stay) The garden and pool table, swimming pool were a real bonus and really enhanced our stay. We loved this house and despite it being a little tired, it had a really homely feel and we had a fabulous holiday here.

“Spacious property with beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 22 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Stayed here for a long weekend in June 2017 with 7 friends, celebrating my upcoming wedding and 30th birthday. The property is very spacious and well equipped (2x fridges, perfect for storing party drinks). Plenty of parking space and only a short drive from Chester and other activites (clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, archery etc)
For note of anybody considering booking here, the property is not detached and the pool/games room are in a separate building - shared by several other properties within a small complex (i do not feel this is explained in the listing very well and I have brought this to the owners attention).
I can't really say anything bad about this rental, other than it requires a little TLC (some fixtures and fitting were loose and although there are several showers, the water pressure only allows one to be used at a time)
We enjoyed are time here very much and would definitely recommend staying here.
