I just spent a couple of nights in this rental, which is a very pleasant private room with bathroom and small cabinet kitchen in a new block (as the name suggests) overlooking the Shropshire Union Canal. Initially it took a bit of finding as my satnav didn't recognise the address, but once I'd got my bearings it's very close to the city centre (10 minutes walk via part of the city walls, though I have to say it's not particularly well-lit at night).
It has all the facilities you'd want for a short stay, including private secure parking and wifi. Ken, the owner, lives upstairs, and was very welcoming without being at all intrusive. He provides a breakfast basket including bake at home rolls, juice etc and the kitchenette is equipped with a microwave and mini oven. He also sent lots of information in advance.
The location is quiet and there's a small terrace overlooking the canal, which I'm sure is very nice in summer though in January not so much
There's a pub that serves food close by, though I didn't use it.
great location just minutes walk from the town itself ,Ken the owner give us plenty of information about Chester and local area, and could not do enough for you breakfast basket had plenty room looking over the canal too watch the wild life well with a stay will return at sum point
Stayed here for two nights in a peaceful location by the canal with a beautiful view. Our room was very comfortable with ensuite & mini kitchenette which included all essentials (tea, coffee, milk etc) & the breakfast basket was most welcome with an assortment of items. Thank you Ken. Our host lives above the apartment and gave us a warm welcome and provided us with lots of help and advice about the town which just a short walk away.
Loved our stay at Chester Canal View, Ken couldn't do enough for us, showed us everywhere we needed to visit. We've never been Chester so this was really helpful for us. We loved staying here and will definitely be back! Louise and Derrick x
Great location near city wall and a short pleasant walk into the city. Ken was really helpful and friendly. The apartment is small but fine for our short stay and had everything we needed.
Just had an excellent 1-night stay at Canal View. Ken couldn't have been more helpful with my parking and gluten-free needs, with excellent communication before and during the stay. The room was a perfectly good size for one person (and two for a few nights) and tremendously well-equipped: there was absolutely everything I needed, both in the room and in the breakfast basket. I loved the view of the canal and the sound of it passing through the adjacent lock. Just to note: the quoted TripAdvisor price is based on stays of 2 or more nights; Ken quite rightly charges a little more if you're staying for just the 1, but it's still perfectly reasonable. Just contact him for details.
Lovely view from the room & only 5 mins walk into the center. The weather wasn’t great, so we took Ken’s recommendation to go to Thatchers warehouse close by for an early meal & it was v good.
All in all a good one night stay.
