We have just returned from a lovely week at Eddystonia with our 2 sons and dog. It is a wonderful chalet - spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable. We loved the power shower, and found the outdoor shower really useful for washing off sons and dog after a day on the beach. Our sons loved the bunk/cabin beds (incidentally, further to an earlier review, there is a bar on the top bunk which makes it perfectly safe for any other than very small children). The view can't be beaten - panoramic sea views. From the photos it isn't clear whether there is a sheer cliff drop down to the beach, but it gently slopes away so is safe for children and dogs to play outside (though dogs obviously need to be kept under control as there are neighbours and no fencing). The walk down to the (dog friendly) beach is steep in places, takes about 10 minutes, and is rough ground in places so wouldn't be suitable for the elderly / infirm, and definitely not pushchair friendly. The beach is great, with lifeguards in the summer, and a cafe for refreshments. We were looking forward to a pasty for lunch but, on a busy day, they unfortunately sold out of all food except chocolate and crisps so go well-prepared if it's a busy time of year. Things to do - There's a great cafe (Clifftop Cafe) just up from the chalet. We parked at nearby Rame Head and took the short walk to the Chapel which is great - superb views again. Kingsand and Cawsand are lovely little villages on the water but the pubs get terribly busy at the height of season so definitely book a table in advance. 'The View' restaurant 2 mins' drive along the cliff is apparently fabulous (though expensive) but we didn't try it out. We did do a fair bit of driving, but it was our choice to explore a bit further afield and visit some favourite Cornwall places - I would highly recommend the 1 hr drive north to Rock (fabulous dog-friendly beach with sand dunes), parking, and catching the little ferry across to Padstow. We also enjoyed the Eden Project and a trip to Fowey (both approx. an hour away). Our boys (12 and 9) loved their go-karting experience at Kartworld which is only about 20 mins away. Very well organised and great fun. You won't be disappointed if you book a break at Eddystonia. Have a lovely time :) Jo
Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of June. It's well designed and thought out with surprisingly good sized room for a small chalet. The location is lovely, but it is a steep walk to the beach, but if your looking at a Cliff Chalet then you should be expecting this anyway.
Overall I'd highly recommend Eddystonia.
I could not speak more highly of this holiday we had a fab time! Fantastic location there's lots to do. Beautiful beaches although it was a lot easier to get down then it was to get back up. Looe was a short drive away it's so beautiful there, you can get fish and chips, ice cream and my kids loved crabbing.
Eddystonia was easy to find thanks to Louisa's good directions. Louisa always replied to emails and was extremely helpful, her holiday home was beautiful, clean and tidy. It was a perfect base for our vacation and was well equipped with everything we needed. We have 3 young children and we all loved staying here and will definitely book again.
Really great place, views stunning and everything we needed was in the chalet.
Hope to book again in the future
A beautifully renovated cabin in a beautiful spot. Stylish but cosy at the same time. Shower is great and the under floor heating is wonderful. Looking forward to coming back at a time when we can make more use of the deck area.
Perfect, beautifully furnished, warm and welcoming. Felt at home as soon as we arrived. Stunning views and a lovely little walk to the glorious beach.
Can't wait to go back.
We stayed a week in this property over the Christmas holiday period The chalet contains top quality fittings- great shower in wet room, fully fitted kitchen, comfortable sitting area, very comfy beds etc- while underfloor heating kept everything warm and cosy (we were there during the coldest days of 2014).
The property is south- west facing so, when the weather is fine, it is very light and sunny during the day with fantastic sunsets at night. There are spectacular views right along the south Cornwall coast from the bedroom and sitting areas.
There is a great cafe just a few minutes walk away that does excellent breakfasts and lunches. "The View" restaurant is also very close for lunch and evening meals and there are lots of places to eat around Kingsand, Cawsand and Maker. For food shops etc. the nearest village, Millbrook, is a very short drive away or about 15 minutes walk.
There are great walks all around and the chalet is sited just off the coastal path which means that it is very quiet. There is a paved pathway just behind the cafe that makes access with luggage quite easy.
We have already made bookings for 2015.
