“Website doesn't show how tired this place is”

The website for this hotel is fantastic. It lured me in to thinking that this place would be a trendy boutique hotel that we were looking for. We were really disappointed by this hotel. I imagine when it first opened, it was really nice but its looking seriously tired. The location is good, parking was not easy but ok. The service was really slow from the moment we arrived. I felt like we were inconveniencing the receptionist who would rather had been chatting to his pals in the bar. The room reminded me of a drab university room. It overlooked the back garden which was quite noisy. Apart from a few nice bits of furniture and bedding, the room just looked tired. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and there were lovely toiletries. Breakfast was pretty dreadful. We waited ages for service. It felt like a place where they had been popular and had frankly become complacent. The breakfast was nice but took ages. There were lots of families when we went and we wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a romantic break. Certainly wouldn't stay again. This place is past its best and they have got lazy.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Falmouth Townhouse and will never forget the superb breakfast prepared by Marc. Our room and bathroom were spacious, good beds and powerful shower. Very friendly staff.

Room Tip: We would recommend room no. 7 on the second floor with view onto the harbour

Great, relaxed hotel in Falmouth opposite the harbour; the hotel has achieved bringing urban chic to Cornwall. My room was funky with all the requirements: comfortable bed, good bedding, powerful shower, good toiletries. I didn't hang out in the bar, but it had a relaxed welcoming feel to it when I passed through. Breakfast was cooked to order and to a high standard. Highly recommended

Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Very central, so no need to worry about taxis in the evenings. Newspapers in the mornings to browse over. Fabulous breakfasts, served until 2pm at weekends.
Great bathrooms in the rooms, powerful showers. We'll be going back again.

Room Tip: Not saying in case you book when we want to go :)

My husband and I booked this very last minute and was uncertain of what to expect as it states 2 star. We were very pleasantly surprised. Room three is lovely and has a fab bathroom at least 3 star standard. The breakfast next day was really lovely and with Rick steins across the road it was a perfect location. The car park is at the back and it's best to go in to hotel for the directions which is a bit of a nuisance but not too bad. Only negative - bar toilets could do with being a little less smelly. They appeared clean but did smell a bit but please don't let that put you off. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Our week in Falmouth had a number of highlights including visiting the house I was born in and staying at the Falmouth Townhouse. We arrived by train and the walk to the hotel took less than 10 minutes. Our second floor room was of a reasonable size, clean and had a comfortable bed. The best feature of the room however was the view across the river. We looked forward to breakfast at the hotel each morning as they were made from fresh produce and very filling. Loved the field mushrooms. The hotel is just across the road from a large complex that includes the National Maritime Museum, a Rick Stein restaurant (loved the fish and chips) and a very convenient store. If ever we get back to Falmouth from Western Australia we would try to book the same room in this well located and friendly hotel.
