Just a normal B and Breakfast, but the best breakfasts I had all summmer! Helpful owners who helped out with many inquiries I had and even gave me a loft to the station at the end of my stay. Fresh homemade bisciuts in the room every morning and a very good standard of maintenance and cleanliness. I ha ve fond memories of it.

Room Tip: The one at the top was a bit small

We arrived on the 29. of April at the Rathgowry and where welcomed first of all by a life size figure of Captain Jack Sparrow. The Rathgowry is a newly renovated maritime guesthouse with a good sence of humour and very friendly and helpful owners. Our room like the house was very clean. we had new beds and sleeped very comfortably. The decoration is modern ,fresh but in a maritime theme. Coffee, diffrent typs of tea and fresh baked cookies had being provided in the room. Breakfast is served in a large diningroom with funny pictures you cant help looking at and the choice is large they even have a special childrens menu and menus for vegetarian. The food is fantastic just like the service. In to Falmouth on foot you just take 10 minutes and the beach with a very nice cafe is just 50 meters away. From our room we had a very nice view over the beach. Thank you Sabine and John for 10 very nice and unforgetable days at your house.

Room Tip: every room is very nice and all have great view

After our last year's stay we again spent one week in this wonderfully renovated and refurbished house. Everything: room, space there, the facilities of room and house, breakfast and the site very close site to Gyllingvase Beach are very recommendable.

We spent 3 wonderful nights at the Rathgowry B&B. We were a group of 7 (family with 3 kids and one set of grandparents) and everyone got what they needed: the family had a large, clean room with ensuite, fitting in all the kids to keep the price down. The grandparents had their own space, with an ocean view. The beds were BRAND new (never been slept in) and very comfortable. There were fresh baked cookies in the room, and the breakfasts in the morning were a highlight for everyone. To top it off, the hosts were charming and helpful, without ever being intrusive. Oh, and did I mention the 1 minute walk to a gorgeous sand beach and cafe? We have already told several people about this great place.

Room Tip: easy walk to the train station

Me and my friends are on a get around trip in Europe. The Rathgowry is just 50 meters from the beach and has fantastic view's over the bay. The hosts Sabine and John have being very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a dream with lots of choice. The rooms are very clean and spaceouse with free wi fi and a good selection of tea's and coffee. To the town center you walk only 10 minutes and you find there a good selection of restaurants and pubs, We loved the funny pictures and talks we had with our host, never did we have such a warm welcome.

With 40 Years of worldwide traveling experience and staying in many different hotels (up to 5 star), motels, guesthouses und B+B's I have now made an other wonderful experience staying at The Rathgowry. This B+B accommodation is second to none in the Falmoth area and it is my recommendation without hesitation. It is situated in a perfect location, being so close to a beautiful beach with just a minute away and yet it is a quiet area for a good night sleep.
Sabine and John are very friendly hosts and I felt extreamly comfortable staying at the Rathgowry. The hospitality offered was an other unexpected and wonderful experience. The housekeeping was very efficient and the room was very clean with a lot of personal attention to details. The breakfast menue is outstanding and offers an extensive variety of different food and leaves nothing to be desired. If you look for value for money, the Rathgowry is undoubtedly the place to stay. I will certainly come back again next year and it will be on my annual traveling agenda for the years to come. I have had a very good time and enjoyed every minute of it.
Thank you Sabine. Thank you John.

The Rathgowry offers outstanding views of Gyllyngvase Beach. The rooms are well equipped with an excellent tea tray that was regularly restocked.

When first walking into the Rathgowry it presents guests with a stale cigarette-smoke smell, due to the hosts having a smoking table straight outside of the main entrance.

During my stay the carpet in my room was never vacuumed; crucial when coming off the beach, as it can bring in so much sand. I was also forced to close my window at night as the smell from the smoking table came in through my window at night, as the table is so close to the guest’s windows.

Food is fine - if you like your continental breakfasts. However, requests to have an English breakfast without certain ingredients were met by “just leave them on your plate” - a thing many guests would struggle to do, as they do not like wasted food. The ambiance in the dining room is not a pleasant one, as on several occasions there were outbursts of loud, aggressive language in the kitchen, which left guests feeling awkward.

On leaving the Rathgowry the laundry was being sorted out in the main hall - not very unprofessional; guests do not want to see dirty sheets being waved around in the hallway.

Most of these criticisms could easy be fixed if the Rathgowry was staffed with cleaners and waitresses, as the workload for the two hosts could be affecting their attitude towards running the hotel.

The overall feel of the Rathgowry feels as if the hosts are ‘doing you a favour’ letting you stay in their hotel - you do not feel like paying guests.
