“Half a button mushroom entree ! Serious?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Ok this would have been higher as bathrooms are new and clean and staff are nice

But I have had six nights of rubbish sleep in the must uncomfortable bed and the creamy mushroom entree was two pieces that equated to half of one button mushroom. Serious bad portion control and at breakfast you have to order cereal no continental buffet more work for staff and often a long wait for the morning coffee.

Get new beds and don't be so mean re portions

We stayed here for one night and found everything to our satisfaction. We had a spacious room that was clean, if somewhat dated, but which had a lovely large ensuite bathroom that had obviously been replaced very recently. We didn't have a sea view but we only wanted a room to sleep in for a night; owing to the beautiful weather we enjoyed the sea view by sitting outside at the front of the hotel. Very handy for walking to Pendennis Castle (well worth a visit!) and for getting to Falmouth Docks railway station.

Firstly on arrival at the hotel check in was very easy on getting room key and entering the second floor to our dismay it is in the roof space on entering the room it was the smallest room I have ever stayed in ,I am six foot tall and at the bottom of the bed it was impossible for me to get past two huge roof struts and a ceiling at a 45 degree angle, but when approached reception to request another room only to be told wasent any unless we were willing to pay £85 for a sea view.
food was very average most of the full breakfast was very poorly cooked toast was allways burnt,,two mornings milk was off.
must say though our waitress TAMSYN was excellent nothing was to much trouble for her also our room was cleaned daily to a good standard although bed was not made very well mainly because sheets did not fit.
there is not a great deal of good I can say about hotel apart from nice seafront position not suitable if you have walking problems now as for alfa driver steve he is the most ignorant abusive person I have ever come across in my opinion and others he needs sacking I shall be contacting alpha regarding him and other safety issues would I ever return to this hotel not on your life .

Room Tip: don't accept room in attic if you are over 5 foot

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who went on a coach holiday with Alfa and stayed at this hotel. They found the hotel to be overall reasonable but old and tired. The food was good and the hotel was clean.

Their main issue of concern was with the room, They had booked a twin room sea view room and requested a bath. When they arrived the room had a shower and not a bath. The unhelpful reception did after some persuading find them another room that did not have a sea view. The issue of concern was that they requested something that had very limited availability and this was not made clear in the brochure. I have rung the hotel this afternoon and out of 51 rooms there are only 2 rooms with a sea view and a bath. They then have a get out clause and say that requests may not be granted. This is very probable if the availability is so small. An honest approach would be much better and future guests should be informed of this lack of facility and then they can make a decision with regards to staying at this average nothing special hotel. My mother needed the bath for a back problem. Alfa and Madeira hotel you could do better for your customers

Room Tip: Only book a sea view room if you are happy with just having a shower!

My mother and I stayed for 8 days with Alfa coach holidays. The room we had was quite large but faced the back of the building, Fantastic shower cubicle in a large modern bathroom. . Beds were comfy. Walk in wardrobe with ample space Room cleaned daily. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. There were steps leading up to the hotel but as mum had a wheelchair for using on excursions, there was disabled access from the lounge round the back of the hotel. Food was good as we have come to expect from the Alfa hotels.
The hotel overlooks the bay and to the right can see Pendennis castle. The lounge overlooks the sea.
We had a taxi to the shops, with wheelchair not sure how to get there. The hotel has a deal with local taxi firm that it is £4 from hotel to centre of Falmouth. The driver told us it should have been £6.70
There were plenty of benches to sit on outside the hotel with a nice garden and fishpond.
There was entertainment most nights, usually singers but one night there is a quiz.Bar closed promptly at 11pm. Never heard any noises after this time.
Overall a good time and would recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view were extra. Our room was 28 which had views of the back of the hotel. No noise...

This was our first coach holiday and if this is typical of the hotels visited by the coach company it will certainly be our last. Our room was at the back in the attic. To walk past the foot of the bed one was in danger of head injury. The window, up high in the right-hand corner was impossible to look out of with ease - not that there was anything to see other than the empty-bottle store (in the back yard). Food could have been good except the ingredients were badly prepared (the ruin of good food by the chef). The hotel has wonderful views but there is only very basic seating outside with no umbrellas to shade one from the sun, which was very hot during the second week of June.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room in the attic.

We enjoyed our week here with Alpha Tours. The hotel is ideally situated for both the beach and shops. The staff, all appeared foreign, were friendly and approachable and all spoke good English. The food was good, particularly the breakfasts. Our room was a good size and clean with ample storage space. Plenty of coffee and tea on the trays. A couple of moans, though. There were only two stations on the television and the towels in the bathroom weren't changed at the start of our week. We were only given two towels and, when we arrived back in the late afternoon on the first two days, we found the towels hadn't been changed and were still left damp in the bathroom. We mentioned it to the girl at reception and it was corrected for the rest of the week. While the hotel was good, the week was spoilt slightly for us by our Alpha driver, Steve. We and other passengers found him rude and abrupt.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower floors.
