I stayed at this hotel as a wedding guest. The single room I had was roughly the size of a match box,and right by the corridor for access to almost all the other rooms. The room is not worth the £47 I was charged, at all! Although the room is en suite, a shower that has no pressure isn't ideal, and the holder not height adjustable. As a guest at the wedding I was also shocked at the untidy appearance of the waiting staff. If I had not been Here for breakfast that morning, I wouldn't have known that they were in the same clothes all day and had obviously not thought about appearance. The hotel does not allow irons to be used in rooms, unless It is THE one provided by the hotel. Only one iron and board in the whole establishment.
Breakfast was nice however, but a choice of what to have would have been more appreciated.
Check out is 1030 but don't count on being able to sleep after 8am, as the cleaning staff like to have loud, personal conversations outside the bedrooms.
Although a clean hotel in a nice location, its decor is dated, rooms are small and over priced, and the ensuites need updating.

We stayed at the Membly Hall Hotel in November 2011 on a 'Just Go' coach holiday.
We had read mixed reviews about the hotel but most were positive. We find that you have to 'read between the lines' and make your own decision. (incidentally, why can't those writing the most critical reviews spell?)
The hotel is a charming little family run establishment, the place was clean and tidy, the staff were pleasant and the meals were good. Our stay there, bearing in mind we were part of a coach tour, was great value too.
Our room, room 31, did not look like an hotel room at all, with it's exposed roofing joists it was more reminscent of the bedroom in a holiday cottage.

Fantasic position, superb view of the sea, nice walks, 15-20 minutes walk to town centre. Hotel clean, tidy and odour free. Staff friendly and helpfull. Selection of local beers as well as the usual national muck. You can get to a beach within a 5 minute walk - surfing is possible.
Bus stops almost outside the hotel. The only down side was next to one of the beds the floor was a bit loose (room 31).
Plenty of info about local attractions as well as a good map of the area. Decent digital TV, unlike some which have analogue TV with STB or worse still if Analogue is still broadcast don't even bother with Freeview.
All in all highly reccomend.

Room Tip: Try not to have room 31 - loose floor.

thankyou to all the staff you were all so very friendly nothing was to much trouble it made us have a lovely stay with you the views are wonderful. and the breakfast was brilliant the only way the hotel could improve is for the outside to have a lick of paint and the room to have a bit of a make over having said that it really is a lovely place thankyou

WE went on this trip for a short break befoe Christmas. When we arrived we found we were in the middle of a turkey and tinsel holiday which is not our thing at all. The staff were pleasant enough but at meals the food was delivered very rapidly and the quality was not great. The room was OK but that's about all. The view was very good. It was very much a cheap coach trip hotel. The biggest shock came when they would not take a credit card as payment so we had to run round town looking for cash. All in all I would say that @family run hotel' in this case meant no money to refurbish.
