If you are in Cornwall or even Somerset or Devon make the journey to Falmouth and go to the wheelhouse! It's unbelievable! It not only serves some of the best seafood dishes I have ever eaten but the atmosphere and staff are so friendly and fun!

It's a lovely small restaurant that is only open three days a week in the evening so you need to book well in advance but it's worth it! When u go in you feel at ease straight away. It's like going into to someone's cooky house lots of old furniture and candles light up the restaurant.the staff are really friendly and welcoming and talk to you like they know you already.

The menu seems very basic - dishes of scallops, muscles and prawns in two size amounts with two sauce options - white wine or Thai and crab, and lobster from small to large. We tried all of them so it was like a tapas of seafood, this is what we would recommend doing as you get to try everything which you need to do as the food is amazing!! Each dish has soooo much flavour to it! The scallops in Thai sauce was simply delicious it had so many layers of flavour to it. It had spicy heat which really matched the meatyness of the scallops. Which also where so fresh! Both the muscles and prawns were delicious, the muscles in a white wine sauce and the prawns in a Thai sauce tasted so good I couldn't stop eating them but I had to make room for the brown crab we had after! This again was delicious, very fiddly to get in to but the waiter showed us what to do which made it more fun. Each part of the dinner was delicious and we finished the meal with a wonderful bowl of mango sorbet.

The lovely thing about the restaurant is the staff seem to really enjoy working there and that enjoyment rubs off on the diners. We eat in restaurants a lot in london and this restaurant wouldn't be out of place in any of the cool places like old street or Brixton market.

The little extra things like shelves fully of fancy dress hats to wear while eating, and the way the staff whispered to all the other tables that it's as someone's birthday so we all knew his name when singing happy birthday made it really fun and special!

Can't wait to go back there next summer! Thanks all at the Wheelhouse

Nathan and Sasha

If you love expertly prepared shell fish, atmosphere, intimate seating, passionate & friendly staff and a place that really buzzes then this is for you! Beautifully prepared food selected from the blackboard with great advice from our server. No menus and no wine list but what is available is a unique experience. This restaurant thoroughly deserves it's number 1 rating. We booked up several weeks before our holiday in Falmouth - so pleased we did. This is a unique and brilliant dining experience. One tiny draw back; the seating is tightly packed in but who cares when everything else is so good!

Such a friendly welcome and the care taken that you understand what is on the menu and more importantly, how to eat if you are not used to the intricacies of crab picking.
The thai mussels are tasty and with the fresh bread to dip, they make a cracking start to the meal.
We will be back!!!

Never experienced anything quite like it; first impression is...what a small place...the staff are warm, genuine and friendly....they suggest with care....then the food....well lets just say you will not be disappointed, its seafood only by the way but prepared, cooked and presented perfectly. Love it from start to finish, the complimentary port from the 'duck' decanter is a very nice touch...the bill was £53 for 2 including wine.
