“Wedding Day”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

This hotel made our son's wedding day a really special occasion. They could not have done any more to make the occasion pass off stress free. They ensured that our room was ready early to enable us to change for the wedding. All the staff were efficient, polite, friendly and always helpful. The room was clean and well equipped. The wedding breakfast was lovely with plenty of well cooked and presented food. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was welcoming and well worth a second visit.

Having attended a wedding at the Merchants Manor yesterday, I felt obliged to write a review about our fantastic experience.

The staff bent over backwards to ensure the couple and guests was attended too, drinks were topped up, food was served promptly and they were always checking to see if anyone needed anything.

The food was undoubtedly the best 'wedding food' I have ever tasted, a delicious starter of Smoked Chicken & Bacon Salad, a main of Poached Hollandaise Salmon and a mouth-watering following of Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta.

The atmosphere was cosey, intimate and set the perfect scene for an October wedding, fire burning, comfy seating, great bar service and beautiful decor.

If I could offer some feedback for the hoteliers, the rooms would be even better if they were refurbished to match the lower part of the hotel, but the room was still clean and inviting.

We stayed here as part of a coach tour of Devon and Cornwall and were very pleased with the accommodations and the food. Our room was at the back of the hotel. It was large and very clean, the balcony had a view of the city and a glimpse of blue sea beyond and the bathroom had a jetted tub; very well used after a long, lovely day tramping up and down Cornwall.
The breakfasts were large with lots of selections and the dining room has nice views of the gardens. The dinner the first night we were there was so good we went back the second night. We had the lobster the first night and the steak the second and both were excellent. The service was very good and I think we were served by everyone who worked there as they don't seem to have sections but we were well taken care of and everyone was very nice.
Falmouth is a beautiful city and one we would love to return to. Cornwall is one of my favorite places and so lovely! If you haven't been there add it to your list. It is a must-see!

We were attracted by the charming look of the front of the hotel but behind this the accommodation is like a Travelodge in dire need of upgrading and decoration, not to mention cleanliness. It promised so much and was priced in line with the apparent promise but failed to deliver on so many fronts.
We decided to dine in the restaurant and had to send back one main course, described as lamb but virtually all inedible fat. In fairness, they credited this and offered the wine at no charge but this did not stop our evening being ruined. The staff then did a disappearing act!
We were woken at 6.30 am by the pool heating plant and and the chatter of non-resident users of the pool and spa.
This place has so much potential but, until it can fulfil customers' expectations, they need to accept this and "get off their high horse".

Room Tip: Ask for one in the main house.

We stayed for two nights and would highly recommend this hotel. As in other reviews refurbishment continues. The food was excellent but the service in the restaurant was haphazard. When completely refurbished this hotel will be surperb as long as staff training is in line with this.

Our trip to the UK was one planned for a long time and we were to see as much of England in the 30 days of traveling. One of our stops was at Merchants Manor Hotel and it was one of the best decisions we made. You see, my husband was suddenly struck ill and was taken by ambulance to the next town, where he remained for 7 days. I, not knowing anyone in the country, let alone Falmouth, was welcomed with open arms by the owners and staff at Merchant Manor. They all went above and beyond their duty to make me feel welcome and not alone. The food was excellent and served with a beautiful presentation. The staff were always there to make sure I was not in need for anything. The owners went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of, offering to assist in anyway to help me during this time.
All I can say is Merchant Manor is not just a Hotel but a home...with family and welcoming arms. Thank you all so very much!

My office booked this hotel and I had never stayed there before. I understand that it was under new ownership. What a great place. Spotless throughout and god sized rooms. My colleague and I took a short walk to eat in the town (be warned it is an uphill walk back. The staff were very friendly and the Cornish breakfast was excellent and well presented. I will stay again and this will be my first choice in Falmouth.
