“Great stay in an excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We stayed at this hotel on our trip around Cornwell and found it very central to the town and it's attractions. It was very clean with friendly staff and a great breakfast. Being family owned they seemed to go the extra yard to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
I would definitely stay there again if I return to Falmouth

My husband and I stayed for one night here due to a wedding we were attending. We had contacted the Hotel prior to the stay regarding the checking in time being after 2pm however the wedding we were attending started at 2. The Hotel staff contacted me and said they would do their best to service the room by 12:30 allowing us time to get ready.
On arrival to The Lerryn hotel at 12ish, the friendly staff informed us that the rooms were almost ready and presented us with complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge while we wait. It is here we met Bear, a small, gorgeous dog who loved being fussed over. After our tea we asked if the room was ready and we were taken to the room. We paid £90 odd for a double room with a balcony and sea view.
We were given the middle balcony room, the room was compact but clean and tidy. The balcony was quite small, not really enough room to walk around the table and chairs there but it is nice to have a brew outside. The sea view although you can see it, sadly is a little let down with a big tree and other buildings in the way but this can't be helped.
The hotel had an honesty bar which is a lovely idea however due to attending the wedding, we did not use this service. The hotel itself is quaint and charming, clean and tidy so all round top marks. It is fairly central in terms of near the train station and the coastal path which ran either side to 2 beaches.
The dining room is light and airy with plenty of places to sit. The 'Full Cornish' breakfast was delicious with 2 kinds of sausages!!
Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: For a larger balcony, pick room 7

This is an absolutely first rate guest house. It is a pity, really, that it advertises itself as a hotel, as that inevitably raises certain expectations which will only be disappointed.

Our experience began very well, with a welcome which could hardly be faulted.

But the evidence soon began to build up. It was all there - the matchbox sized room with paper thin walls (the paper peeling off one of them), the cracked bath panel, the bijou little bar cum lounge, the ramshackle layout of this converted Edwardian villa.

The room itself was particularly disappointing, with barely room to edge past the bed, very little wardrobe space and nowhere to sit and type this report. The mattress managed to be both hard and sagging at the same time, and creaked with every movement. We could hear everything that went on next door and in the corridor. The flimsy curtains provided very little impediment to the light streaming in most of the night. The postage stamp sized television was set to a permanent low volume with subtitles, presumably a novel approach to preventing noise pollution.

We were there a whole week and our sheets were never changed.

Having said that, we slept quite well and awoke to a surprisingly good breakfast, better than we have had in many hotels, although it would have been better still without the compulsory piped music. Why do so many hotels seem to think that their guests cannot stand five minutes of silence?

Also on the plus side, the wi-fi worked and is free, so eat your heart out, Hiltons with your £15 a day charge.

Service was very good, willing and cheerful throughout.

The location is excellent, 5 minutes walk from the beach, Gyllingdune Gardens, Falmouth's main street, the harbour and the railway station. There is even a sea view of sorts from the upper floors, although largely obscured by buildings. The area is quiet and very pleasant.

All in all, a bit of a mixed bag. The crunch question, though, is "would we go there again" and the answer to that I’m afraid has to be “No”.

However, in the words of the immortal Corno di Bassetto, "Those who like this sort of thing will find it to be the sort of thing they like."

We stayed one night at this family run , small hotel. The choice was good. Our rooms were nice, one had a great seaview and the breakfast was outstanding! We enjoyed sitting in the garden with drinks. Falmouth was a bit rainy but the nice hotel made it all better! We would stay there again.

100 yards from beach , 10 minute walk from town good holiday destination , I was on business. Rooms spacious , clean and all you need is there. A welcome coffee on arrival is a nice touch.breakfast is ample. I have stayed here quite a few times and never had any issues.

Room Tip: The various rooms I have stayed in have all been spacious and clean

Really enjoyed our stay at this family run Hotel. Had a refurbished room looking over the garden. The staff were all very helpful, and the breakfasts were fantastic. Out of the two hotels we stayed at in Cornwall the service at Lerryn was far superior to a more establised hotel situated on the Lizard. We will be returning to the Lerryn later this year.

We had a great weekend at The Lerryn. They managed to fit 11 of us in 5 rooms. The owners and staff were really friendly - and so were the other guests who we met in the lounge and at breakfast. The rooms were light and airy, stylish and very quiet; the breakfast selection was great and there was a huge amount to eat; and the location is perfect for beach, station and harbour. We will be staying again.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms have been done up recently and some have sea views, so ask about this. There are a...
