“Lovely, as ever”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

Another great stay at the Greenbank Hotel!

I have stayed here around 5 - 6 times over the last year and it is always lovely. I must say the service on this ocassion was fantastic. The bar staff and restaurant staff in particular were friendly, professional and helpful.

The food was good, from the homemade bread to the steak, it was all beautifully presented and tasted delicious.

The rooms are always spotless and I always have a harbour view as it is such a relaxing location.

Breakfast was a slight disappointment and certainly not as good as the last time I was there. Although the poached eggs I had were lovely, and served on a dry plate. There is nothing worse than someone who puts them straight on the plate out of the water, as it makes the toaast soggy. But they were beautifully dry! There seemed to be some sort of discussion going on in the kitchen as every time the door opened I could hear raised voices.

Overall a lovely hotel and everytime I go, I think I should come back with my husband!

Room Tip: Definitely a harbour room for the view.

Been coming to this hotel for years now, once or twice a year. In the past I would have always given the hotel five stars always for the stay, but always knocking a point off for their dreadful food in the harbourside restaurant, which did improve for a short period when they had a half decent chef, Fiona, which left unfortunately. Anyhow, onto our visit a week ago, staff as always excellent in every way, there is nothing too much trouble for them to assist. Rooms always as usual tidy and cleaned perfectly. I have taken a star away on this visit purely for the pretty shameful breakfast, which had improved recently but I feel that they are looking at costs as the selection on the buffet has been cut down and when asking for poached eggs and bacon, it came with one small rather, a bit mean to say the least. My sausages or should I now say very small look a likes had been re heated so many times previously that the disintegrated on my plate ! Dreadful food, but staff again lovely, so nice that I feel I could not complain ! They use to offer a lovely breakfast of good cold thick slices of ham and cheese, what happened to that ? I understand that they are without a general manager at the moment and are looking for somebody so I am thinking they should get that sorted sooner than later. I just so love this hotel, I want it to get better not worse, and it was doing so well. They just want a GM who can shake things up a bit, but please concentrate on the food first please !

Stayed in the master suite. Have stayed there before but this was the first time since it's been refurbished. Vast improvement. A really well designed, comfortable room.
However, the steep cost (£300 out of season; £360 in season) doesn't align with the overall hotel. This was borne out by little mistakes (see later) and the staff whilst all very friendly and helpful are clearly not used to providing the level of service commensurate with this cost.
Examples:- no loo roll in room (when asked for it, it came immediately) and the quality of the toilet paper is inferior. There was a lot of seagull poo on the windows/door to balcony (and on the balcony furniture), much of which was dried out so not recent. Again, when I requested the windows to be cleaned the next day they were. The view is the main feature of this room - how housekeeping/the manager can possibly think this is OK I don't know.
We didn't have dinner at the hotel; breakfast was satisfactory.

To sum up, this is a sound 4* hotel with a fabulous master suite which feels expensive because you're paying just for the room and not the overall hotel experience.
Likely to stay again as the view is amazing.

Recently booked this hotel for a last minute weekend break and great value deal.
Good standard hotel and staff very warm and friendly. We were advised not to expect a sea view but had a lovely surprise and enjoyed a large picture window with views over the bay.

Close to all the amenities that Falmouth has to offer. It was nice to walk the short distance from the hotel along the promenade to the main high street and bustling town.
Good weather made it even nicer. We didn't eat here in the evening but would on another visit or as non residents.

Breakfast was very good and real value for money. Would defiantly book again and recommend.

We have just had a long weekend at The Greenbank, enticed by an Amazon offer but well worth paying the price of an extra night. The food was just wonderful. Really top drawer, excellent ingredients, combinations and presentation. It is a old building, with narrow corridors and a wonky lift but we accepted that as being part of its charm. It was good enough for Florence Nightingale and good enough for us. Have to comment on the service which was exemplary. We talked to some of the staff, mostly young but some had been there for a few years. Falmouth was really interesting and the view form the hotel superb.

A waterfront hotel with superb views and parking. The receptionist was very polite and welcoming and the hotel had a nice ambience to it. We found our way to our room via a lift and a long thin corridor and were very pleased to see the fantastic view from our bedroom. The room was not big but very comfortable and a good size bathroom. There were tea and coffee facilities and we bought some fresh milk and botlled water as the local water can taste a little chlorinated. There is a room service menu and breakfast in your room can be arranged the night before. There is lots of character with bits of hotel memorabilia throughout, and a super bar area with comfy sofas. Negatives, a few rough areas, worn carpet and paintwork, cobwebs and a slow Fawlty towers type service at breakfast. The breakfast was ok with the usual fruit juices and cereals in a help yourself area and you order your hot food. I opted for the full breakfast but although the quality was fine it wasnt the most memorable and I have had better. When it finally arrived it had one rasher of bacon, one chipolata, one mushroom, one egg and half a tomato. Seeing as a breakfast is the last thing before you leave and of a hotel of this calibre I would of expected better. The Norway Inn does a superb breakfast for instance so I was slightly disappointed with that. There was no hotel brochure on departure either. Overall though it is a nice hotel and I would stay again.

Room Tip: Room with a seaview if you want to watch the sailing boats.

Just returned from two nights at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth. It is my favourite hotel in Falmouth and nicest hotel I have stayed for a long time. Lovely welcome, really Cosy and lovely rooms and so clean. Beds comfy everything you could want. The restaurant was wonderful. With great views and excellent service and delicious food. I was actually woken up a few times by a noisy wedding party but it made no difference the overall stay was fab and I didn't want to leave. Breakfast in bed was thumbs up too! Cannot wait to book again
