Clean, comfortable and good food with fabulous views over the harbour. The staff were excellent, attentive without being intrusive, very friendly. If we had a criticism it would be that the lighting in our bedroom was not very conducive to reading in bed (something we like to do) but really would not like that to be detrimental to our review. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

We stayed at the Greenbank for just the one night, the result of winning a free night at a charity auction. On arrival we were greeted just inside the entrance by a friendly young man, who pointed us at reception. Check-in took just a few minutes and were told where to find our room, on the first floor. There is a lift. Straight out of Poirot. Small, very purple and it comes to a lumpy halt at the requested floor.

Our room was comfortable, with huge bed, plenty of wardrobe space, working digital TV and pleasant bathroom (with a bath and fabulous shower). The room is supported by full room service.

We discovered that one of the two radiators weren't working and called reception. The duty manager arrived in less than five minutes and the problem was solved.

The view from the room was tremendous. It is advertised as a harbour facing room and it is just tha,t with a great view across the river to Flushing and an uncluttered view of the whole of the Falmouth waterfront. Everything from tiny rowing boats to super-luxury yachts and Royal Navy ships. The view started just a few yards from the hotel with the water lapping right to the wall.

We enjoyed dinner at the hotel that evening. Well cooked, well presented and the service was relaxed and prompt. The dining room itself enjoys the same view as the room. Dinner was followed by a few drinks in the large and very comfortable cocktail bar where there was some live music, due to a birthday party being catered for.

The next morning started with a superb breakfast. A large menu, and the 'full English' was perfect, with the scrambled egg getting a special mention.

Complaints?: A couple of windows in the room were badly fitted or worn, letting a very cold sea breeze through the gaps. The heating coped but had to be turned up to full.

Special mentions?: The young staff appeared very well trained and both confident and friendly. An extra special mention to the young man running the cocktail bar. Friendly, happy to chat and yet working like a trojan all afternoon and evening. A credit to the hotel.

Not the most modern hotel (some of it is 350 years old) but the staff more than make up for any failings you may identify in the structure and the location and view was perfect.

Spent New Year's Eve at the Greenbank.

All the staff here are friendly and make you feel very welcome.

The bedroom was well appointed and although it faced the road, street noise was minimal. The bed was king or even super-king size and very comfortable. If the pillows are too soft for you, they can quickly replace these with firmer types. The heating is also good and controllable by adjusting the thermostatic valves.

The water pressure in the bathroom was fierce, which I like; and the hot water was boiling hot. Although at the point all the guests were getting ready for the hotel's New Year's Eve dinners, the entire hot water supply was drained. The hotel management did double-check to ensure there wasn't a fault, but it was down to high demand.

Breakfast was always piping hot and the portions generous. And very tasty as well. Bar snacks were also filling.

The hotel bar is inside the main reception room with its high airy ceiling and views over the harbour.

We had no problems with out-of-season parking, either on the hotel's private quay, or along the road. Others have commented on the lack of space in the basement car park. This should probably not be regarded as a parking facility, as it really is the hotel's storage area.

Recently stayed for a weekend in January 2011 - two nights for the price of one offer - paid £155 (bed & breakfast) for a harbour view which was amazing. Large room, high ceilings, HUGE bay window overlooking the harbour towards pretty cottages at Flushing. Despite recent reviews, excellent (and quick) breakfast, cooked to order. Lovely evening meal looking over the twinkling lights of the harbour and beyond. All service could not be faulted. Parking no problem. Gentle stroll into town five minutes. Thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I took the Christmas 3 day package; 1st time staying at this hotel. Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff, warm comfortable room with all the requirements we needed and what a view! Exactly what we had hoped for. The food was exceptional thanks to the fantastic chef and her team; our only moan would be that the Riverbank Suite, (fantastic for a party/wedding etc:) was just too large and unwelcoming for the 30 or so guests (all on the package) that ate their Christmas Lunch within. The Harbourside Restaurant much more homely and user friendly was home to the people who had just booked Christmas Day Lunch, and would have been much more appreciated by the 'package' people who were all there for at least three nights! Yes we will probably return but only with reservations for the Harbourside Restauarant confirmed. Non the less, please try this Hotel, and forget the 'purple' carpet, you don't have to live with it, only walk over it! also if you don't like the sound from the yacht masts as they sway in the breeze, then Falmouth is not for you and no other harbour either.

Stayed here for a night in October with my teenage son . Hotel is in a lovely position right on waters edge with fabulous views across the estuary. Takes prob 15 mins to walk into centre. Parking it seems is fine if there is no event on, we arrived at tail end of a wedding and there was no hotel parking to be had, so we parked along the rather narrow public road, also the weather was grey and stormy so those who had parked down on the hotels own quayside ended up with very salty cars !! Also parking/turning on the quay is very tight for larger cars, ideal for minis !! Walked into reception to be greeted by ghastly purple carpet everywhere ,overshadowing what is a lovely historic building entrance, and a slightly offkey receptionist. From then on everything improved dramatically as we were given keys to a wonderful large room with huge bay window overlooking harbour, with 2 comfy armchairs in which to relax and enjoy the views, equally huge bathroom with vast shower, large welcome tray of coffees teas etc and flat screen tv. Comfy twin beds and upmarket interior decor, very quiet at night, and excellent evening dinner and breakfast in the hotels restaurant, again situated along the waters edge with fine views. The night we were there it was a very mixed age range of guests - everyone from dynamic young London type professional couples to rather mature hiking types. Bar area was bright and friendly and relaxing to chill out and look and the scenery, with newspapers and comfy sofas. Would definitely stay there again and would forgive the small niggles and purple carpet !!. Just a welcoming smile from the receptionist on duty would make all the difference to this beautifully situated hotel.
