We had totally STUNNING weather:
Andy Murray had just won Wimbledon; we were staying nearby and came for a day at the local beach. After a morning on the sand in the sun and incoming tide, we retreated to the beach café, which turned out to be a wonderful bar/restaurant that knew exactly what their clientele wanted.
We had a shady table with an uninterrupted view of a lovely beach - there are no other buildings to be seen. The menu was extremely classy and well done: fish, burgers, prawns - and I was even tempted into having gooseberry crème brule with delicious coffee.
Sadly, we had to drive back to London after lunch - otherwise we'd have been back to check out dinner.
If the UK beaches always had this weather - and such a terrific beach restaurant - there would be NO point in holidaying abroad in the summer.
