We travelled as a party of 14 to enjoy the Oyster Festival and also for the Blues in the Bay music festival but as there were insufficient rooms at the hotel the majority of the party were staying at, we stayed here. We arrived earlier than the requested check in time but this did not prove to be a problem. Karen was very welcoming, offering local information and asking us to make full use of the lounge facilities. We had a back downstairs room with a 4 poster bed, which seemed a little too large for the room, however it was really comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good; full choice of fresh and dried fruit, cereals and fruit juices as well as a lovely full English breakfast with tea and coffee. Although we only stayed for one night it suited our needs to the T

My travelling companion and i stayed at Melvill House from 16th. till 20th. of September. We were warmly welcomed by the owners Karen and Chris, they asked if we had any special requests for breakfast, we did not. Throughout our stay they advised on places to visit, and restaurants to go to. Our twin room with en suite was in excellent decorative condition, The room was comfortably furnished, and very clean, as was the bathroom with bath and shower. The bed linen looked new, it was clean and fresh, For breakfast we only had scrambled egg on toast, it was well cooked and large portions. Other guests had the "full english breakfast" and assured us that it was tasty, well cooked, and plentiful. There was also a buffet with cereals and bowls of fresh chopped fruit, and seasonal fruit. Melvill house is a Victorian house with many of its original features, all well cared for. When we are in Falmouth we will stay here again, thank you Karen and Chris for a happy stay at your hotel.

A welcoming stay, with no adverse comments.
Clean room with good facilities and a breakfast with plenty of choice. Karen and Chris, the owners, always made time to chat and recommend walks and local eateries.
A good stay and would not hesitate to go back for a second helping.

We selected Melvill House from an internet site, and struck lucky. Karen and Chris are excellent hosts and manage a clean friendly property in close proximity to beaches and town. They are interested in your stay without being intrusive. They are prepared to offer advice and suggestions on places to visit and eat, and enhance your stay in the area.

There is off-road parking, which is a big plus in a crowded area. Breakfasts are delicious, whether you choose the continental option of cereal, fruit, yoghurts etc or the cooked to order option. Our room was spacious enough with a view towards the sea, and the bed comfy. Lashings of hot water were on hand whenever we needed it for showering.

Open all the year round, it is is easy to see why Melvill House could become a favourite.

Room Tip: The back of the property will be quieter than the front.

I've stayed in 4 different B&Bs and hotels in Falmouth so far and this was easily the best. The room was spacious and very comfortable and I slept very well. The room faced away from the road and was therefore very quiet. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The whole building was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent. If there are rooms available, this is the one I would stay at next time.

We stayed here as a family of 7 and we all really enjoyed our stay. Chris and Karen were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were all spacious and very clean. Breakfast was lovely, with a really good choice of cooked breakfast, cereal, fruit etc. location is excellent and has ample parking. Nice lounge to relax in after a hard day at the beach!
We loved it here and would definitely stay here again when we visit Falmouth.

We have just spent 2 nights at the Melvill and
have been totally impressed by it.
The hosts were fantastic, the room brilliant, the cooked breakfast amazing, and it's in such a perfect location as it's a 5 minute walk to the beach, or a 10 minute walk to town.
This lovely guest house gets a 100% rating from us, we hope to be back again
