“Warm and comfortable with an excellent view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2014

Husband and I stayed in the premier plus room with balcony and spa bath etc. Very large and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast, I chose poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon. The salmon was thick and very tasty. We chose this hotel for its position right on the sea front and for its facilities. The swimming pool and whirl pool were very warm, but not as warm as the welcome from the lady in the spa area. She was most helpful and you can have as many clean towels as you wish. She told us that she was already past retirement age but enjoyed her job so much that she has carried on working, you tell she took huge pride in her work and wants the visitors to get the most from their stay. If you want a classic hotel then this is ideal, it date from around 1865 or so. Exudes history and charm.

Room Tip: The view from the premier plus room is worth the extra.

Dear Jackie12Devon,

Thank you for your comments, and I am very happy to see that you obviously greatly enjoyed your stay with us.

As I have mentioned in other comments, the hotel benefits from a beautiful location, and positive re-investment from the owner - however it is our staff who help us to stand out from the crowd. From Iris in the Spa, to our housekeeping team, and from reception to the Kitchen, all team of staff are encouraged to use their natural friendliness to ensure that for our guests, the hotel is a home away from home.

I hope that we will see you again soon.

Regards,

Christopher Roberts

We have stayed at the falmouth hotel many times and continue to enjoy it every time we come and stay. The hotel has a very special meaning for me and my fiance as we got engaged on the beach at the front of the hotel whilst we were staying there 3 years ago and it has lots of memories with us as well. The character of the hotel is beautiful and the views are amazing over the sea from the bar lounge and the rooms with a sea view are the best to book to appreciate the view it is stunning and very tranquil. The breakfast is good especially the full English but my partner was disappointed with no black pudding!!!! (It has been served on previous visits). I cannot comment on the evening dinner as we have not eaten in the restaurant in the evening. We have just visited the hotel on 30/1/14 and stayed for 3 nights for my birthday and our room was 206 with a beautiful sea view and a nice spacious room. We were a little disappointed with the shower in the room as not very powerful at all but it was bearable. My next disappointment was the sheets not being changed when it was evident that they had marks on(this was from us having breakfast room service) the bed was made without being changed. I did go to reception and discussed this and the sheets were changed straight away. This sounds a very minor thing to moan about but we are paying good money to stay. However the reception staff were very apologetic and it was dealt with straight away.
I would like to say that we have been visiting falmouth and have always stayed at this hotel for the last five years and we have never had to complain before about anything and this was a minor hiccup that is now forgotten. We will continue to use this hotel for many years to come and continue to enjoy this beautiful place.

Dear noonoos,

Thank you for your review of The Falmouth, and I am glad that the hotel continues to be a special place for you.

I am glad that you have included the hiccups that you encountered during your stay, as if no-one says anything, we can often be left unaware.

Our maintenance team have fixed the shower in 206, finding that the internal tubing on the shower head had become twisted inside. This has now been rectified, and the shower is back to full strength. I have also ensured that our Head Housekeeper has followed up on the issue of the bed with the member of staff responsible for cleaning your room that day.

I hope that we will see you again soon, and perhaps we can tempt you to join us for dinner, giving you another reason to tempt you back!

Kind regards,

Christopher Roberts

We had stayed at the Falmouth Hotel previously & were impressed by its location & facilities.
This time we stayed for 3 nights in a lovely room with balcony overlooking the sea, what a magnificent sight!
The room was very comfortable & nicely furnished & the spa bath very relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
We ate in the Castle Restaurant each evening & found the menu offered a very good choice of innovative dishes, all cooked, presented & served to perfection. Similarly, breakfasts were a delight, especially as you could watch the sun rise over the sea as you were dining.
The lounge is a peaceful unhurried area with sofas & easy chairs where you can again admire the wonderful view prior ( or after!) to your meal.
Overall a perfect time & our thanks to the helpful & cautious staff, our only regret was not being able to stay longer!!

Dear Paul S,

Thank you very much for your review, and I am happy that you enjoyed your stay with us.

The Falmouth Hotel does have a lot to offer, the magnificient views are certainly a starting point, but our continued focus to attention to detail, excellent food and service, and investment, I believe make the difference.

I will be sure to pass your comments on the food on to our Head Chef, who will be very appreciative.

I hope that you are faring well in the storms, and hope that we will see you again soon.

We have stayed at the Falmouth Hotel a few times before. Our sea-view room was great and had been recently redecorated. The food was excellent as usual with the added advantage of being able to swim off the excess and unwind in the Jacuzzi. Wonderful staff & service , wonderful break. Although towards the end of November the weather was very kind to us. Thank you

Dear BrendaG822,

Thank you for adding your thoughts to Trip Advisor.

It is nice to see your comments about the weather in November - especially given how it has been recently. It's a good reminder that it isn't always driving rain and gale force winds!

I am glad that you enjoyed your time with us, and hope that you will join us again soon - and bring some of that good weather back with you!

We had previously stayed at the Falmouth hotel and so were already aware of it,s superb location on the sea front within an easy walking distance from the town and well located for walks along the coast path.
This trip was an overnight stay including dinner at the hotel as a birthday treat.
The hotel did not disappoint, all of the staff were efficient and friendly, the room was clean and newly decorated and the sea view was beautiful. Dinner was delicious and nutricious and the service was attentive and pleasant. The staff enhanced my birthday experience with a couple of unexpected birthday treats.
We will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again or to recommend it to anyone visiting the Falmouth area.

Room Tip: pay the extra for a sea view if you can.

Dear ron I,

Thank you for your review, and Happy Birthday!

I am very happy to see that we looked after you so well over your birthday, and especially pleased to see the comments about the staff.
We have a wonderful location, but it is worth nothing if the service and welcome is lacking.

I hope that we will see you again soon.

We have recently spent our second Christmas at the Falmouth Hotel and it was even better than last year!! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, and the lovely decorations certainly made for a Christmassy feeling. We were treated to a local brass band playing carols on Christmas Eve before enjoying a superb meal in the restaurant. We awoke Christmas morning to a wonderful breakfast then a stroll along the seafront before enjoying a sumptuous Christmas lunch expertly cooked and presented with attentive staff on hand. After the Queens speech, bingo was on offer for those who wanted to join in. Time then to relax ready for a mouth watering evening cold buffet, which was most enjoyable.
On Boxing Day a walk was organised by the hotel to Swanpool Beach, we arrived at the beach café to be greeted by mince pies and mulled wine which was most welcome. Back to hotel for lunch with yet more lovely food!! A Boxing Day dinner was laid on in the restaurant later in the evening and the quality of the food and the service was impeccable. Day four we had a walk into the town to catch the sales then back to the hotel for a swim, after the Christmas excess had started to take it's toll on the waistline!! The meal on the final evening was again faultless in every way. The whole experience was most enjoyable from the spacious room which was always spotlessly clean and the staff who go the extra mile to help and give 110%. We have already booked for next year. Chris the General Manager has some great new ideas to make this hotel more appealing to all age groups. Well done Falmouth Hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms we have stayed in have been excellent.

What a lovely surprise. An easy walk from the railway station, a warm welcome, a spotlessly clean room with a fabulous bathroom. Well trained, cheerful, helpful, accommodating staff, really enjoyable food (top marks for the vegetarian choices), gorgeous views from the public rooms. Exceptionally good for a three star hotel.

Dear mac51_12,

Thank you so much for your feedback, it was a pleasure to read.

In my training, I was taught the mission statement "We will strive to exceed our guests' expectations, so that they will wish to return". It certainly seems that we have accomplished that goal.

From your comments, I can see that you were appreciative of so many aspects of your stay. The one aspect that particularly caught my eye was your comments about the vegetarian food. We believe that we should provide a memorable experience for all our guests, and for those with dietary requirements too often the choices left for them pale in comparison to what is offered to everyone else. Because of this we have tried hard to provide a food offering that can be enjoyed by all, ensuring that we have plenty of options, that we minimise our use of gluten, and have food available all day for those who have time-specific diets.

I hope that we will be able to welcome you back again soon, and wish you a prosperous 2014.

Kind regards,

Christopher Roberts
