“Excellent location, friendly staff, awesome breakfasts”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

This was our first stay at the Grove, but we will be returning. We had a small family room, which was perfectly fine in terms of size. Decor, as has been mentioned before is more shabby chic than chic, but that didn't bother us. We paid £90 per night for bed and breakfast for three of us and I felt this was a really good deal. Everywhere else we had enquired was asking over £150 for the same weekend. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean and the breakfast was delicious and huge. Importantly, the staff were all charming and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Some things about the place were great - the room was a good size, the location was brilliant, we managed to find on street free parking for both nights, and it was clean. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic - perfect.

What let it down? Well for starters, when we arrived the girl at reception handed us a key and said we were in a room with a seperate front door (no problem) but she didn't offer to take us to our room, or show us in. Not much of a welcoming committee after a 6 hour drive! Had she shown us to our room, she would have seen that only 2 of the 5 lights on the overhead lights were working, and one of the bedside lamps were not working at all. The room is very "shabby chic" but some things let that down as well. The kettle was tiny, the coffee/tea mugs even tinier, plastic water beakers instead of glass ones, shampoo and bath gel sachets... Also, the TV was pretty small for the size of the room.

There were a lot of workmen in, and I'm guessing there is refurbishment going on. But if they want to stay number one on Trip Advisor, I think they'll need to up their game.

Think this was the sixth time we've stayed and it's always a top quality experience, the staff are very helpful, the breakfast is always the full English option but there's loads of other choices. The rooms are relaxing and have all you need in them for your stay, bathrooms are equally well equipped and spotless.Your 2 minutes from the middle of the town which is ideal with some great restaurants and pubs to find, sure you'll really enjoy your stay.

This is a fantastic little hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The service is very personal. The bar and breakfast room downstairs have been very nicely decorated, with the former providing a genuinely nice place to hang out for a drink in the evenings with mood lighting and suitably atmospheric tunes being spun on the stereo (there is even 2 acoustic guitars - one classical, one steel string - and a mandolin provided in the bar area for guests who want to get a bit musical during their stay!). Rooms are perfectly comfortable and pleasant. I have back trouble so the comfort of beds means a lot to me. The one in my room here was great, I awoke very well rested! Breakfast was standard 'full english'...but was a really GOOD version of this staple.

Room Tip: Rooms on the harbour side have nice views, although rooms on the non-harbour side are probably sligh...

We chose The Grove after reading the tripadvisor reviews and it was brilliant. We have stayed in several hotels in Falmouth and this was certainly the best. The breakfast was the best we have ever had and the location was excellent, so close to everything Falmouth has to offer. The room and bathroom were very very good and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We asked for extra pillows and got them straight away. We will definitely choose The Grover for our next Cornish holiday.

Room Tip: Our room was on the second floor front and being pensioners we would prefer a first floor room next...

Very relaxed and very convenient.
The ONLY downside is a lack of parking - and even then, like us you could be lucky.
Welcoming, nicely furnished, great breakfast, great service etc etc.
So, so handy for shops and so many restaurants.
Many thanks to owners and staff for a very pleasant weekend break.

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a sea-view room, or for a first floor room - really obliging owner on-site.
