“Excellent little BnB in a wonderful location”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

My wife, son and I all stayed in a family room for the Looe Music festival at the end of Sept. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very, very welcome by our host. Our room was much bigger than expected and my son was over the moon to have his own luxurious 'proper' bed - 'family rooms' have a habit of offering up little more than a camp or pull-out bed for the youngsters. The room was perfectly clean and extremely comfortable, but the highlight was it's location - right at the front of the guest house, with a stunning view over the river.
The hotel itself was also in a perfect location for the festival with everything within 5 - 10 mins easy walk.
Breakfast was a belly busting 'full English', cooked to order - such a refreshing change from the Luke warm, congealed buffet served up in the more corporate hotels.
All in all, great value and excellent hospitality - we'll be back :-)

we had a great welcome cup of tea brought out to us while we relaxed and enjoyed the view
our host was very friendly always had time for a chat and was full of enthusiasm (gives you the local knowledge about free parking times places etc )
room very clean and tidy with direct view over the river just a few minutes from shop/pubs and restaurants
breakfast well cooked and plentiful sets you up for the day

As I arrived a bit early to check in about 1pm, Sammy the very friendly host welcomed me to Looe and explained he was still servicing the rooms, though he offered to make a pot of tea whilst I waited out on the very sunny front landing till my room was ready.
I decided instead to have some lunch and look over the scenic waterfront.

The Bridgeside, though a little faded from the street ticks all my boxes for room appointments, cleanliness and the facilities offered. Economically priced, there was nothing more could I have asked for.

Well, in contradiction to the many rave reviews on this accommodation, is it a guest house or bed and breakfast, Anyway, we only met the owner the following morning for breakfast, and the lady taking our breakfast order never even introduced herself and we felt somewhat ignored. We are so glad we only stayed one night as first impressions count and we were disappointed that the reviews on this accommodation did not meet our expectations.
For example, it does seem a little dated and rundown, could do with a little bit of TLC to the outside and room decor. The shower room had no adequate ventilation therefore smelt musty which you smelt all night. Major disruptive building works being carried out next door not ideal this time of the year.(July).
Yes it is in an ideal location for exploring being in central Looe and with lovely views. But the accommodation does not match the location and we would not stay here again. Sorry Bridgeside its a no from us.

We would highly recommend this B&B if you want to visit Looe! We had a lovely welcome from Sammy who is such a nice guy - he was always smiling and chatty and even offered us both a drink on the house which was very kind. The room was great and very clean, and it was literally a two minute walk through the centre to the beach. We had great weather so in the evening we sat out on the terrace at the front of the B&B with a view out over the water which was very nice! Breakfast in the morning was also great.
Thank you Sammy, we'll definitely be coming back!

Stayed with a friend/colleague here after a work trip to Par (wanted to make the most if of a long trip from London to west country!) and very glad we did. Looe is beautiful and location of guesthouse is great, few mins stroll from gift shops, beach and restaurants. Welcome from owner Sam was very warm and genuine, and Dave that worked there gave us a welcome drink on the house if a 'triple' Malibu and coke each (oops hope I don't get Dave into trouble!) which is a nice touch I've not received elsewhere in UK. Both the guys took the time to talk to us and advise on what to do with our free day. We walked to polperro which is a must, great walk, stunning scenery and polperro itself is amazingly pretty and you can get a boat back from there to Looe if you can't face a 2 hour walk back. If the sun is out take sun cream, I burnt my feet terribly on the walk there! Looe has good nightlife for a small town, saw 3 live acts in two nights and atmosphere was lovely, very warm folk! Guesthouse room was comfortable, clean and everything we needed for a short visit. they also kindly custom made me a vegan breakfast which was nice.Sam also supports Chelsea so made me like the place even more! I don't usually review UK hotels, but wanted to give this place a thumbs up, & will stay a few days again next time work takes me to the west country, thanks for a great stay. Sarah and Isla.
