“Fabulous stay”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Fabulous room, they had just updated it, truly amazing view, huge balcony, warmest welcome, professional staff, breakfast lovely. Travelling alone can sometimes be a little nerve wracking, but I would heartily recommend the Hannafore Point. The staff made me feel so very welcome, as if they could not do enough. Have booked for next Easter, and they have even ensured that I get the same room! If you want to stay in a fairly large hotel, with all the ammenities, but that still feels like a family run business then please give the Hannafore Point a try. It's worth it just for the view alone!!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room with a balcony.

We really enjoyed our carvery meal at the Hannafore Point Hotel restaurant. The meat was succulent and the vegetables good although, as I don't have potatoes or vegetables in cheese sauces, they were a little restricted for me and I would have liked to see more choices such as broccoli, red cabbage etc. The service was so friendly, the setting with the view over the coast fabulous and, to top it all, there was lovely live piano music which made the whole thing such a wonderful experience. Parking was a little difficult, we had to park quite a way along the road. We hope to return though!!!

We've stayed here a few times but this was our first time here in over 10years. This was a valentines weekend for us without the kids!

Hotel is a mixed bag to be honest.

Pros
Staff were excellent as was the food all round, especially the breakfast. The view from our room was just amazing and worth the price alone. Hotel was clean and tidy if not a bit dated and tired in places.
Due to the horrendous weather we were extremely late arriving for our first night. We rang the hotel on route and they made sure a dinner was put aside for us, they couldn’t do enough.

Cons
Our room was on the top floor and subsequently next to no water pressure for hot water. The shower just was not worth turning on...it really was very poor. Hotel staff did change the shower head but this made next to no difference. It was so poor you certainly could wash your hair under it.
No worries thou as we'd thought we'd use the bath. Not enough hot water to have even a semi decent bath, more of a paddle.
On arrival there was a wedding party in full swing. The entrance to the hotel was busy with drunken smoking guests blocking the entrance to the hotel and there were drinks all over the floor. This probably needs a re-think to give a better impression for other guests on arrival.

We would definitely stay again though; its location is its jewel in the crown.

Room Tip: be wary of top floors for lack of Hot water.

Dear Jeff G

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comment regarding your stay at the hotel.

It was a pleasure to read your lovely comment regarding the staff here.. I will pass on your comments to the team.
I do apologise for the problems you had with reference to the shower.
We have looked into this and found there was a problem with the water supply going into that room, this problem has now been rectified.
We are currently half way through a refurbishment program for all our rooms, with extra focus on bathrooms and this is due to be completed by Easter 2014.

I hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Best Wishes

We attended a function at the Hannafore and decided to stay over.

Parking is a little limited, but we did not have a problem finding a space. The receptionist was friendly and checking in was easy. Our room was very nice, four poster bed, lovely balcony with lovely sea view, the bathroom was smallish but fine, and the room wasn't huge but didn't feel cramped.

The bar area was ok, again lovely views, but the furniture is tatty and needs replacement. We arrived in time for a late lunch in the bar and ordered wraps, both of our wraps were tasty and came with loads of chips and some salad.

The service at the dinner we attended was very good considering the size of the group. Courses arrived fairly quickly without too much delay in between. My husband thought his Brie starter was very nice and the pate I had was also good, but I cant understand why they went and spoilt it by serving it with cheap supermarket crispbread... makes no sense! The roast chicken main courses were a little on the dull side, but fine, and the salmon our friends had also looked nice. pudding was ok, and the coffee was good. Nothing to fault really, but just generally lacking a bit of sparkle, attention to detail, and a few finishing touches.

Breakfast was very good, great service, plenty to choose from, reasonable quality, and again lovely views as we sat and ate it.

Good all round, hotel is spotless and comfortable, just a little dated in places, and the food is more than acceptable for what they charge. Great value for money, I wouldnt hesitate to return.

Room Tip: You can't come here and not get a sea view room - you'll miss out!

This was our 6th visit to the Hannafore in as many years, and we were definitely not disappointed, it's every bit as good as it has always been. We go their in their off season for 2 reasons, the amazing value for money and the peace and quiet of Cornwall at this time of year. After this dreadful winter it was soothing to see Spring definitely poking it's head up down in the warm climes of the South West, and as usual there was more sun there and we were able to be out and about. There's lots to praise about this hotel, the food, as always was really good, not fancy but tasty, well prepared, and plenty to satisfy healthy appetites! The staff, again, as always, are a delight, helpful, friendly, chatty when you want to, and leaving you to in peace when you are reading or watching the sea. The bedrooms are comfy and well equipped, and the whole hotel is always spotlessly clean.
This isn't some fancy, trendy stainless steel high-rise hotel, but if you want to be looked after, relax, eat well and enjoy the breath-taking view from the windows, all for a "how-do-they-do-that" price, then get down there.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are worth the extra few pounds

What a beautiful view. Yes, the decor was a little "outdated" but it was still curiously quirky! It depends what you want from a hotel. It was clean, warm and comfortable. The staff, however, I have never met such friendly people! Couldn't fault the breakfast. Lovely says it all.

Just back from a two night stay at Hannafore Point Hotel, which was thoroughly enjoyable, despite some truly awful weather. We were there for a dancing weekend which in itself was good, but the whole experience was made even more memorable by our room with its fabulous view over the bay, excellent quality food (and plentiful), and friendly staff. The location is good too, being immediately opposite a small beach and only five minutes walk from the town. We're hoping to go again!
