Horseshoe cottage

A delightful renovation with lovely interiors and a real personal touch, all amenities were included as well as ample parking. Michael and Gill were welcoming hosts and greeted us with a delicious cream tea! The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is within easy reach of the popular fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. It is situated in a peaceful and secluded location and the only sounds you can hear are the bird song. We had a memorable weeks holiday and certainly hope to book again in the near future.

“WONDERFUL WEEK AT HORSESHOE COTTAGE”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Gill and Michael who gave us a lovely plate of scones with clotted cream, jam and Cornish milk.
The first thing we noticed was how quiet and secluded the setting was - there is a lovely sunny private garden which is visited by a variety of wildlife in the early morning and evening.
The cottage is very well equipped to a very high standard and Gill and Michael have managed to retain a lot of original features whilst presenting modern living accommodation.
A good selection of books, games and DVD's have thoughtfully been provided and the WiFi is a real bonus which allowed our granddaughter to keep in touch with all her friends.
The beach at Millendreath is an easy 10 minute walk and the Black Rock Cafe and shop offers a good selection of food, drink and ice creams.
The beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles and has a safe walled section making it ideal for young children, there are also lots of rock pools to explore. Parking was free which is a bonus.
Horseshoe Cottage is ideal to spend a relaxing break or is well placed to use as a base for lots of exploring.
We cannot fault Horseshoe Cottage and we have already booked to come back next year.
Well done Gill and Michael for providing such great accommodation and such a good holiday experience.

“All you'd ever want a Cornish Cottage to be.”
Reviewed 27 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Stayed for a week in late June 2015. Cottage is secluded, very clean, well equipped to a high standard and lovely. Plenty of space for us, (four adults and a baby). Run by a lovely couple. The cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch. The beach at Millendreath is a short walk away and there's a nice cafe and shop there. We'll definitely be back. Thank you!

“A lovely weeks stay”
Reviewed 23 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Have just returned from a weeks stay at Horseshoe cottage with the family in a fully equipped, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean cottage with lovely garden, in a peaceful rural setting, with very friendly owners - Michael and Gill nearby and scones, jam, and clotted cream on arrival, what more could you ask for. They even arranged lovely sunny weather !!!
A lovely weeks stay, no hesitation in recommending it.
Many thanks Martin, Gillian, Christopher & Emily

“The best cow-shed in Cornwall? Probably !!!”
Reviewed 20 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I kid you not... Horseshoe Cottage used to be a Victorian shippen (cow shed) but has been very nicely and tastefully refurbished and decorated and lies in a quiet, secluded hillside location in the valley leading down to Millendreath.

On arrival we were met by a very friendly and courteous Gill and Michael.. and a plate of freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream - nice ! They provided us with the basic information about the cottage and area and then left us to it, telling us to call if we had any problems as they live just across the courtyard. Some owners leave you with a list of "do's and don'ts" but this was certainly not the case here.

The cottage is extremely well equipped and very comfortable. Although it is for four people there must have been enough crockery and utensils for 8. The cottage is primarily on one level with just a small step from the dining room to the lounge and bedrooms so it is very accessible. A TV and DVD player is situated in the lounge with a selection of DVDs and a small library of books and some board games. On arrival it was spotlessly clean and well prepared and it has more than ample parking.

An outdoor patio and garden area (down a few steps) complements the cottage and it was very pleasant dining in the patio area. There is also an annex with a tumble dryer and washer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wished we had booked two weeks not just the one. The high standard of the accommodation and lovely weather made it a perfect week for us. However, you do need a car as there are no local amenities although this is likely to improve as Millendreath is currently being regenerated.

All in all, strongly recommended - we would have no hesitation in staying at Horseshoe Cottage again or in recommending it to family and friends - and of course the Tripadvisor community !

“Superb accommodation”
Reviewed 5 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Superb accommodation in a quiet area a few miles from Looe. Easy access to coastal paths and stunning beaches, something for everyone. The cottage itself was faultless and spotlessly clean and we were welcomed with scones fresh from the oven! The owners could have done nothing else to make our stay any more enjoyable or comfortable, it was a privilege to stay there. The sunshine was a bonus too, contributing to a really pleasant holiday. Highly recommended.
