Thanks to Pat and Alan for making such a comfortable and well appointed place for us to call home for our wonderful 20 night stay.
Mousehole is a charming, character filled village with lots of great walks. We also enjoyed a little boat trip from the harbour.
The whole of Cornwall was delightful and it was awesome to come back each evening and be able to really relax with a wine or two whilst making dinner in the kitchen.
Nothing was too much bother for Pat and Alan who had a plumbing issue quickly sorted whilst we were out and bought summer weight quilts while we were there as the weather was so WARM.
Flowers and champagne on arrival certainly started our visit the right way as did the supply of immediate essentials.
Could not be happier with our stay.
We stayed here for a week , I wish it had been a month ! Beautiful cottage full of character , dressed and furnished with such care , very traditional , which we personally prefer to some ‘ikea’ decor , nothing plastic in sight ! , Mousehole feels enchanting , even if you’ve not been before , you end up feeling sad leaving , little Dorrit adds to this experience, Patricia is lovely and very welcoming , lots of lovely touches when we arrived, the effort and care is very much appreciated , and we can’t wait to re book .
This is a beautiful cottage in a bygone style.
The owner, who is very pleasant and generous, must have gone to no end of trouble with the furnishings to make it into almost a museum-piece! I mean that in a complimentary way!
There are disadvantages, because it is very tiny but nonetheless, very comfortable. It does not have the minimum amount of furnishings to "get by" but it is full of antiques, old pictures, lovely curtains, and a million cushions.
The modern equipment all works well - the shower, washing machine and cooker.
The stairs are very steep, but despite being arthritic, I was able to get up and down them well after a few goes. I would mention though, like a previous guest, that it would help if the left-hand rail could be mounted the right way up, as it is upside down at the moment so you can't grip it.
We stayed over Christmas, and we were bowled over by the beautiful decorations, and generosity in providing champagne (as opposed to Prosecco which I hate!) and Christmas crackers, as well as preserves.
The bed was very comfortable too. I would say it was quite cold upstairs for the first 24 hours, but it warmed up after that.
It is a lovely place to stay around Christmas. We got to join in Tom Bawcocks Eve and even got some stargazey pie! It helps to be next-door-but-one to The Ship and in the middle of it all.
The price is also very reasonable - this is an owner you can trust.
Note that for loading and unloading, you can usually use the tiny space outside the Ship Inn.
This was our 8th visit to Little Dorrit in Mousehole and it was as perfect as ever. Pat is a very warm and welcoming owner and the cottage is always cosy and comfortable with all the features of home.
There is so much to do in the area, whatever the weather: wonderful coastal path walks with stunning views; fascinating history of the tin-mining industry; the amazing open-air Minnack Theatre and St Michael's Mount. The beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within reach and well worth a day out.
A belated anniversary gift off our sister who has stayed here a few times before. We can see why she keeps going back. A lovely little period styled cottage right on the harbour and close to the local pub and village store.
This place is amazing and you are greeted by Patricia and Alan with a welcome pack of coffee, tea etc to get you started if you want to self cater,
The cottage has everything you need for a long stay and is well more equipped then any other self catering home we have stayed in.
The village is well situated to reach all the well known landmarks, lands end ,the lizard and numerous more. Though parking is limited in the harbour,if you manage to get a space in the car parks or harbour wall,it's only £3 for 24 hrs so you can get parked up and use the little bus to ride into Penzance or surrounding area.
I'd recommend this cottage to anyone thinking of visiting this area, for location, comfort , friendliness of the locals and overall being in a lovely county.
Pat & Alan thanks for a lovely stay, we hope we have the pleasure of visiting your cottage again in the future
We had the most wonderful stay in this delightful harbourside cottage. It got off to a great start due to the fantastic communication from Patricia before we arrived, and then her welcoming introduction to the property, complete with scrumptious Cornish cream tea and other complementary goodies! The cottage had everything we could possibly want and was scrupulously clean, extremely well-equipped and simply perfect for us as a couple to enjoy this charming village and stunning area. Rarely do you see a rental where the property's photographs so accurately depict what you'll get, it really is that charming! Our advice would be that once settled in, if you have a large car, use the car park at the entrance to the village and stroll in, it's very close by and worth it not to negotiate the narrow streets. But don't let that put you off from staying in this superb little cottage!
Mousehole is worth a visit, it's a charming village with everything you'd need for a perfect holiday.
The cottage is stunning the attention to detail that Pat and Allan have put into it makes it feel like home.
It's located opposite the harbour where you can sit out on the benches watching the fishing boats come and go .......so relaxing.
