We ate here last night for a birthday celebration. We arrived early and had two incredible cocktails at the bar. Josh (think that's his name!) told us all about the different gins in Cornwall and gave us tasters to try. We then had a table by the window, and had the 7 course taster menu while watching the sun set. I can't fault the food, wine or service. Rosa serving was so lovely, super enthusiastic about the food! We eat out a lot and this is without a doubt our favorite restaurant. Thanks for an amazing night.

Firstly - great location and nice food, sorry that's it for positives.
We arrived 15 minutes before our booking (table booked for 6.15pm), not unusual to arrive a little early to have a drink in the bar and enjoy the atmosphere? No, we were told that the restaurant did not open until 6.15pm and to go away and come back then! Really? We were a little taken-aback - we have never been to a restaurant that 'opens' at the time of the first booking! Sadly that was not the only problem. The restaurant is Italian - yes, get that. We have eaten in many many very nice restaurants but the way in which the waiter asked us if he could read the menu to us - in a very patronizing manner made us feel positively uncomfortable! That continued, I personally felt almost intimated by the staffs superiority (or by their belief in their superiority!). Needless to say, we won't be rushing back. A real shame...

Managed to get a lunch table a couple of weeks ago. Staff welcoming, helpful and friendly, Food as good as you would expect. The view across Watergate Bay is stunning even on a rainy day! Restaurant well designed too.
Caveat - entrance/exit by fairly steep wooden stairs, there might be another entrance with a lift but not that obvious. If you have mobility difficulties it could be a problem.

Wonderful setting and great atmosphere in another of Jamie Oliver's fantastic restaurants.

Service was excellent, very prompt and attentive. My Wife is a coeliac and i have an allergy to nightshade plants (potatoes, tomatoes etc). Which in any restaurant is problematic especially. However, the staff were able to give us great options and adapt the menu to suite our needs. Rare for restaurants to do this in our experience.

The food was delicious and i wish we were local enough to keep going back.

Hearing that my son had booked us in for a birthday lunch at JO's 15 made me initially wonder if this might be just a 'must eat there ' overpriced celebrity dining experience. For two of us it was also to be a flying visit to join the family and not part of a longer stay in the area so a little trepidation regading the long drive from Bristol for such an occasion.

Hearing from the restaurant that the booking, on a Sunday lunchtime, also coincided with Cornwall's 'Board Masters' weekend, and advice from them to arrive early, also hinted that this was going to be one busy lunchtime and, because of that, maybe not the best.

Upon arrival at Watergate Bay we found that more people were leaving Watergate Bay than arriving, Board Masters had been cancelled due to bad weather. Still plenty of people around to create atmosphere but the car park for the restaurant , shared with the beach visitors, was only partially full.

Six of us received a pleasant welcome at the restaurant timed for a 12.00 o'clock sitting, our party consisting of two grandparents , two younger parents and two young children. Our waitress was delightful and even dealt with an unprompted enquiry from our 9 year old granddaughter regarding the sourcing of the fish with perfect humour asking the kitchen the question and then informing her with amusement.

The menu suited everybody and the food was the best we had in Cornwall over that weekend, having also eaten in Padstow. Some of our party opted for the 'set' menu and some, having seen the 'A La carte' choices, opted for other dishes ...and a lot of ooos and ahhhs there were.

A bottle of Punto Final malbec which accompanied the meal was also very enjoyable.

Waitressing over the two and a half hours was efficiently dealt with, food queries were pleasantly answered and the lunch was rounded off with petit fours on a plate reading 'happy birthday'.

I've tended to steer clear of 'celebrity' restaurants , perhaps wrongly, as this was a most enjoyable experience. Might even give Rick's place along the coast a try one day.

The weekend was made more enjoyable by our stay at Treverbyn House B&B in Padstow , reviewed separately.
