Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Pentire. We travelled as a 60+ Choir and WAG's and the hotel was already hosting another choir from Australia. The hotel itself is looking rather tired and obviously in need of some TLC. Having said that, the Staff coped magnificently with not one, but two 40-strong Male Voice Choirs and their WAGs, who's requirements were multifarious. They had worked out when each choir would require packed lunches, early dinners (4pm) on certain days, since each choir was appearing at at least one, sometimes two, differing venues on the same day. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, and choice, excellent and varied. Rehearsal rooms were provided. The pool was in use as well. One evening, on our return after a Choir spectacular, there was one barman/receptionist and they even accepted our providing our own barman!
Please, someone, spend a little cash on refurbishment (everything clean & spottless) on the decoration etc. because the Staff deserve this just as much as the guests.

Room Tip: Try a room at the back of the hotel, facing the sea. The front has a flat roof and resident gulls who are early risers.

We stayed here on a Travelzoo deal, which made it worthwhile. As others have noted, the rooms are in need of refurbishment (we stayed in a refurbished room - dread to think what it was like beforehand!) but everything is clean and we appreciate that they do as much as they can. Rooms are well equipped, toiletries, tea and coffee, flat screen TV, hairdryer etc

Breakfast every day was fine - as frequent travellers there were a few annoyances but nothing we couldn't live with. We had dinner one night which on our deal was £10 each for three courses - where else could you get that kind of value - but don't expect haute cuisine for the price.

The pool facility is OK - good size pool but the changing rooms could do with cleaning more often, or at least mats to keep the floors drier - it's no fun trying to dry off whilst avoiding puddles of water!!

There is plenty of parking and the hotel is in a nice area - the bus stops right outside or it's a short drive/20 min stroll down to Newquay. We had fantastic views over Fistral beach from our bedroom.

Would we return - yes, if the price was right on a deal and only on bed and breakfast basis.

Fantastic beach views, clean & well equipped rooms, a good sized pool, good value dinner and hotel in a nice area with easy access to the busy centre of Newquay’s bars and nightlife – these points are consistently raised and the reason why many guests return to stay with us. We strive to provide exceptional value holidays and breaks in Newquay. Our friendly hotel team are always delighted to welcome returning guests and we hope to see you again soon too.

This was our 2nd stay here. Can't fault it. We found it very relaxing again. Chris and his team always very pleasant. They really have guests interests at heart. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. What a change from some hotels especially in Europe where you are just a number not a person. We are coming back in June this time for 10 days....... Here is a 3 star hotel that certainly gives 5 star treatment.
One night I did not fancy the main course on the evening meal menu so when I told reception and said I would have the children's pizza and chips option they told the chef who said fresh chicken breast had just come in and would I prefer one of them. Not many places would do this for you. Well done. It's little things like this that give this hotel it's feeling that nothing is too much trouble for them. For the money you pay you just can't beat it. See you soon.

Room Tip: Try room 116 it has double bedroomed and another room with 2 single beds. Excellent value

Really enjoyed our stay and the staff are a delight. Ok the hotel could do with an update but my husband and I are in business and appreciate the difficulties financially to do so. Take our advice and enjoy without being too picky. Bedroom and bathroom clean and sea view over Fistral beach brilliant. Breakfast tasty hot and plentiful. Last but not least we had a brilliant deal. Go and enjoy.
Thank you Pentire.

Stayed at the Pentire with a Just Go Holiday group and had such a lovely break here. My single room was small but had all I needed and was clean with restocked tea/coffee/milk etc every day including a shortbread biscuit. All the staff couldn't do enough for us and by the time I left I felt I was leaving friends behind. The food was excellent and top quality all but one thing which I must mention for a full truthful review, that was a chicken breast in a chasseur which was inedible but it was one blip in the whole stay. When I couldn't decide on dessert one evening they let me have both. Other than that the hardest thing was trying to make up my mind what to have from the great choices on the menu. I had time to fit in a few swims in the hotel pool and didn't have to worry about wet towels in my room as we collected one from reception than gave it back at end of swim.
As part of a coach party I have often found you can be treated rather as a second class guest at some hotels but not this one. All in all it is a great place to stay, not far from Newquay itself and walking distance to Fistral beach.
