I stayed at Avalon Guest House on my cousin's recommendation. The proprietors, Rick and Jan, were brilliant; friendly, welcoming and professional. They are always happy to help with advice regarding places to visit. The hotel has a Victorian feel to it, lots of features like the wide staircase with wooden spindle bannister. It has a homely feel but crucially doesn't feel as though you've no privacy, or that you're under surveillance, which is a concern for me when I stay in a guest house as opposed to a large hotel. My en-suite room was spacious and absolutely spotless. The shower was not of the type where it's so small you can't turn around without banging your elbows on the cubicle. It's twice the size of those you can find in smaller accommodation. Breakfast was cereal, followed by full English and toast, with a choice of jams, marmalade, etc. Rick rustled up a great breakfast that set me up for the day - and veggie too! As mentioned by other Trip Advisor members, availability of off-road parking is of real benefit. The town centre and beaches are a short walk away, around 5 minutes, but Avalon is far enough back from the main road to ensure that you will not be disturbed at night. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this guest house to others - oh and importantly, the price is right! Great value for money.

I booked this b&b after reading the great reviews and it certainly lived up to them.
I received such a warm welcome on arrival despite being several hours late and it being late into the evening. This was so reassuring having travelled alone and feeling a little nervous of a new place to stay. Throughout the stay it felt like a home from home thanks to the lovely owners.
The breakfast was very good and the room was spotless. The location was ideal, close to the centre of town (few minutes walk), but far enough away not to be disturbed by noise.
I will definitely be booking again!
