“Perfect weekend with the boys”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

The best campsite I’ve stayed in for a long time. We went as a group of 10 on a stag do (all mature guys) and the campsite was perfect. We had loads of room and the dude helped us sort out where to pitch and park to create a wind break for the BBQ. We were left to ourselves all weekend and the dude pop round in the morning with black bags and always had good banta. After finding out the first night in town was a bit disappointing he suggest a few other places which were more Cornish and we has a blast.
The toilets, showers and wash areas were clean and well kept not the Savoy but it a camp site after all. The bar was like a youth centre but had a few pool tables, table tennis, and darts, and a decent range of drinks. All the staff were down to earth and polite especially the people in the shop and the dude that look after us.
Great place to enjoy Newquay from and the taxi was great 1.60 each way whenever you call, will be taking the wife down for her first camping experience next year.

This camp site is absolutely brilliant! A group of six of us visited recently and the staff were all friendly, welcoming, extremely helpful and great to talk to. The facilities were all reasonable and cleaned daily and the pool was great too. There is a helpful shop which is reasonably priced and open most of the time. The bar and games facilities were large and perfect for spending time in during the evenings and the atmosphere on the site is fantastic! The local area is a lovely place for shopping and surfing on beautiful beaches which are easy to get to if not travelling with a car as the camp site runs a useful taxi service at good prices and the friendliest drivers! An amazing way to spend some time with friends and meet new people! Lovely place and fantastic staff, I would recommend it to everyone!

This campsite was excellent value for money, really helpful friendly staff. The toilets and showers were reasonable, always clean and stocked with toilet roll. The showers are slightly temperamental, and do cost 20p however they last for about 3 minutes, which is plenty of time.
The bar is large and reasonable prices with free pool if you buy a drink. The taxi service down into Newquay is great, the drivers are really polite and a bargain for the journey. A very clean well kept campsite, and as long as you are clean and tidy there will be no issues with getting your £20 deposit back.

Room Tip: Don't camp under th flood lights in the site as they remain switched on all night.

3 of us stayed here in the summer for 1 week, one of our group, Paula, recommended it after staying there every summer for the last three years and we were delighted with our choice! We were staying during boardmasters so it was incredibly busy and as soon as we arrived we were asked to wait in the car park while they got the cars before us pitched, and about 5 mins later we were logged in at reception and had paid a reasonable deposit and were shown to our pitch! The guy who showed us where to pitch was really helpful and even offered to help us put up our tents!
For the rest of the week we found the site clean and tidy and the shower block was everything you expect from a campsite, functional and clean but no Hilton!! For all those people on here complaining about the 20p charge for the showers I really dont see your logic... without this charge the queues would be around the site as people spent hours trying to wash away their hangovers (for future reference a mild hangover requires 20p but a real killer will require at least 60p)!!!
The staff were always happy and helpful... and even took our rubbish to the bins a few times when we refused to come out in the rain :)
the atmosphere on site is comfortable with a nice mix of age ranges so we were able to have chilled out nights with our firepit and i-pod and tent parties with the very cool gang in the next door tent!!!
The mini bus runs every 15mins for a small charge and takes you into Newquay and will bring you back again at pretty much anytime... Nigel, I don't know when you found time to sleep but you are a legend!!

We will definitely see you for Boardmasters 2012!

Love from Paula, Laura, Laura, fish, parrot and the most over-packed Micra there ever was!!
p.s, thank you for being nice when we broke the rules still had our fire-pit burning at 1am :)

A group of 20 of us travelled 7.5 hours to Newquay for the August bank holiday weekend. We chose Rosecliston because of its location and for that we couldnt complain. Situated 7 mins (drive) from the centre and they provide a night minibus which charge £1.60 each way.
However, on arrival we were greeted by the 2 rudest members of staff ever. They were abrupt and ordered us to wait in the car park until our other party arrived. They had little chat and zero banter and were generally awkward and irritating. Being we'd driven 7 hrs, they made us wait until all our party arrived before setting up camp. After waiting 1.5 hours, we got put in the corner of a field with very little space. Considering this is a massive field, they seemed adament we mustnt cross over our allocated patch.
The bathrooms stunk of urine. You had to pay 20p for a 3 minute max shower and often found ourselves dodging the toilet rolls hanging around on the floor. Oh yeah, have £20 deposit ready, they dont accept card and its £20 deposit per person

Really disappointed, certainly wouldnt go back!!

Stayed at Roseclison last week for four nights, there were six of us altogether, aged 17. We had a great time! For £10 a night it was great value.
On site there was a shop which sold everything you could need, there was also a bar area with ping-pong and pool tables. The shower facilites were fine, yes they werent amazing but your camping so what do you expect! Bus serivces til late in the morning. Our bus left the town at 5am, and the driver happily picked us up at 3.30 in the morning! Met many new friends, and would definelty go back!

I felt I had to comment after reading the many trip advisor views and set the record straight about this campsite. I found it funny that most people complaining about it are the younger people who were in groups. Yes, there is a reason why you are hassled and that is because you are not the type of people the campsite would like to have. They are looking for the older, surfer laid back type people who do not stay up till 3/4am screaming keeping everyone else awake.

I just spent 10 days there with my boyfriend and other couples. It was perfect for what we wanted to get out of the holiday. Immediately we were places in 'couples corner' as I named it, well away from the young groups. Still though every night we could not sleep till about midnight and then were woken up again around 3/4 when people starting to get back from town. This is fine though as we expected it to not be a family site with no noise.

The main problem is the security staff and not the type of people who stayed there. The manager knows that they have a problem in this area. One night we were woken up from people playing football right by our tent, the ball hitting the tent a couple of times. I get up and was shocked to see the security staff were the ones who were playing. Very unprofessional. The manager explained that the security staff should be telling people to be quiet instead of going around chatting to everyone. After we chatted to him about this he started putting his staff back on and the campsite seemed to be much more under control when they were around.

I didn't find any issues with the type of people staying there, there seemed to be no 'chavs' as such. Just a complete lack of management at night.

This campsite is trying to target the more mature surfer type crowd and so this is why they may seem to be unreasonable with the younger groups. There are a couple of other campsites in Newquay that will be more suitable for you if you are just looking to party and drink late every night.

Apart from that, the campsite has everything you need. The bar is great and provides light entertainment at night if you have been surfing all day and the minibus is excellent value.

It is placed close to Crantock too which is a quiet alternative to Fistral and we surfed most days there.

We enjoyed our stay and felt the manager listened to our opinions fairly and tried his best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. But, that is probably because we were the type of clientele he wanted!
