“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

I paid extra for a sea view and wasn't disappointed. I heard some complaints about single rooms backing onto a yard and having a horrid view but overall I have no complaints. The food was good, the staff superb

Room Tip: I'd suggest a sea view. Well worth paying extra for. I was told the ground floor rooms were poor

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and I am pleased you enjoyed your sea view, I do agree as many other guests have stated that the view is worth the little supplement.

Unfortunately with regards the comments on the ground floor these rooms do not have the sea view as they are to the rear of the property.

Hopefully we shall see you return to the hotel or one of our other hotels at some future date.

Thank you again for your comments

This hotel is in a super spot to the beach and town center. We did not find any faults in the lounges,Restaurants and ballroom. The room we had was clean and tidy, with a lovely sea view. The only problem we had was there was no shower in our room, just a bath. All the hotel staff are fantastic and friendly. Our room was always nice and clean, thank you housekeeping. The Reception staff were very helpful. They carried our suitcases to our room for us due to my disability.Thank you.The food in the Restaurant was good and had lots of choice. We had Stacey as our waitress, she was brilliant. She is very helpful and she could not do enough for us.Thank you Stacey for making us feel special and your service. The entertainment was good with bingo,a quiz then a entertainer to finish the night off.Brilliant Holiday!! Hope to see you soon.We recommend this hotel to anyone.

Just returned from a short break at the Marina hotel Newquay with National holidays. The hotel is located in a superb position on the promenade but first impressions of it from outside was a very tired hotel that needed updating. Inside it was also very tired looking and worst of all didn't have any lifts. Only two floors high there's 37steps to the second floor with a couple of awkward fire doors to get your cases round. We were knackered by the time we got to our bedroom! After that ordeal though things just got better. We had a lovely front room with a seaview and the room was immacuatley clean. Plenty of tea/coffee provided with a kettle and a flat screen television. The bathroom was a good size although the shower rather small. The food is really good with lots of choice and the service amazing. Our waitress Tracey couldn't do enough for us and was just amazing the way she cleared the table so fast and had our courses in front of us in record time. The lounges are rather bland with leather seats slightly higher than usual - but - so comforable and much easier to get up from for the older people which considering the average age of the clientel is a good idea. The ballroom resembles a small concert room in a WMC but it was nice enough and the entertainment reasonable. The worst thing we could say about it would be the bar prices, our drinks were priced at £8.10p whereas the pub just down the road the same drinks cost only £5.20p. Almost £3 cheaper. Don't imagine this is a damning report as despite all the downsides of the hotel it WAS worth every penny ( most National holidays are anyway ) and we will return again. It's not the Ritz by any means but thanks to the friendliness of ALL the staff, the good food and cleansliness of all area's you can't run the place down. You want the Ritz you pay Ritz prices.....and I doubt you'd get a better nights sleep or better staff there anyway!

Room Tip: If you travel with heavy luggage or have a problem with stairs ask for a ground floor room.

Thank you for your lovely review, it was really lovely to read so many positive comments on the staff and the value for money from your recent holiday.

With regards some of the comments on décor I would like to take this opportunity to mention that we do have some investment planned for this year to make some improvements to the Hotel and hopefully if you return later in the year you will notice this.

I will pass on your comments to the staff at our next meeting.

We asked for a ground floor room & got one, it was warm & clean & kept clean all week.
The the staff are very helpful we didn't have a bad meal all week the service was quick & all the food was hot, Tracy the waitress worked really hard & always cheerful, the head cleaner asked if everything was ok with our room can't fault the staff.
The entertainment was good, ballroom always warm, bar service good, going to go back in 2014.

Hotel badly needs a makeover. Went just before xmas (5days) and total lack of xmas cheer when we pulled up outside. First thought that the hotel was shut. On two days running we had no heat or hot water. They said they were having problems with boiler but i wonder if it was just shut down to save money. Food ok if a little oversalted and entertainment ok. Value for money on a National coach trip though. The two problems were the aforesaid lack of heating and the speed of service inbetween food courses. You are still chewing the last of yr main course when they put your dessert down! A 3 course dinner over in 20 mins. Would not be returning here

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. I would like to state with regards the issue with the heating, this was an unfortunate problem with the boiler, however we are not in the habit of turning it off to save money it was an electrical fault since rectified.

The hotel does have plans in place to invest money on the décor and hopefully if you do return you will notice this.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

Wow, we've just returned from our pre Christmas break and have loved our experience. We had a lovely room with a sea view, the bed was comfortable and the heating adjustable. There was a good choice at breakfast and evening meals with fabulous service. Evening entertainment was brilliant and we didn't have to leave our hotel in the evening with the inclusive drinks it was excellent value for money. The hotel is situated in a central area so you don't have to wander far to enjoy the rest of Newquay. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff and they are a really professional and friendly team. The only downside was that we thought that it could do with a refurb as the decor is a little dated but it was clean and tidy and that's what counts as we would definitely like to return. Also the national holiday trips aren't all oldies, we're early forties and had a fantastic time

Just returned from a 4 day break in Marina Hotel Newquay, with National Holidays, we arrived on Monday 16 December, at 4-35 pm. we were asked to stay on the coach while we were welcomed by Jason and the adorable Tyler,(his little boy)
We were given room 48 on the first floor, the room had 3 single beds, and was a spacious room, with a shower toilet and washbasin.
The food was served quickly by all the staff, and the all inclusive drinks offer was very good, we can't comment on the entertainment as we were in our room before it started. but others enjoyed the Bingo, quiz and singers.
there was a nice quiet lounge suitable for reading sea facing. and a large tv and games room,
It was the second visit to this hotel and the staff are all excellent nothing is too much trouble for them.
They even served us with drinks at lunchtime, on my birthday as the weather was too bad to go out, and the bar doesn't open until 5-30 pm.
The decor is looking a little tired, but that didn't spoil our wonderful stay.

Room Tip: No lift, ask for a ground floor room if you are unable to climb stairs, or first floor if you have m...
