fantastic food, great value, good portions, not greasy like a lot of others, the price is excellent,
this is a little gem , the staff cannot do enough for you, looking after your every need, but not pestering you to buy drinks all the time, your meal is not hurried in any way,
but the service is fist class,Located upstaairs and could be easly missed, as there are no flashy lights, inside you will find a nice quite place to dine for any occasion as you are made to feel special.
Try the cripy duck it is fantastic, all the food is great, so hard to chose from,
cant wait tp go back, i enjoy it so much,
a grat thank you to all who make this such a special place.

we have just returned from a trip to newquay and decided that we would try this place.
the meal was excellent and the staff were very friendly. there was so much food we couldn't eat it all!
i am vegetarian and they adapted my meal without any fuss. we were the only ones in there and were told we could sit as long as we wished until their 11pm closing time.
they seemed very busy doing take away food which to us said it all - a very popular place.
if we are ever in the area again, we certainly wi call in again.

I went with a friend to this restaurant after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed, the food was lovely and the guy who served us could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Yes the restaurants decor is maybe a bit old and could do with updating but the food was fab!

Popped in to get a takeaway as going back to camp site. We ordered chicken curry and sweet n sour chicken, Sweet n sour was lovely, but the curry was best I have tasted and I have tasted a lot!!!! Always go back when we are in Newquay, highly recommended.

I'm a local and I've tried lots of Chinese eateries. Shanghai Express is my favourite - by a mile!

Here are the key reasons:
- Really great food, fresh and tasty. No tummy aches the next day!
- Very friendly and thoughtful staff, so great service.
- Good menu - and a willingness to adapt a dish if you ask.
- Extremely good prices. So much so, that they're good value for takeways too - and this is real restaurant food, supplied in plastic sealed containers (not cheap foil ones). In fact, four of us have eaten well for under £20 which is quite amazing.

It's easy to miss Shanghai Express ... it's just a small doorway (nothing fancy) leading to a small restaurant over some shops. The stairs are quite steep and they haven't spent a fortune on the entrance, but don't let that put you off. It's the food and service that counts.

It's in the heart of town - and an idea place if you want to get away from the hordes of noisy stags and hens, drinkers, etc. Probably one of the quietest places to eat.

Inside, there's a homely feel. Clean and modern. Quite intimate without feeling squashed in. No blaring music or flashy fixtures. Great staff who are very polite and helpful. If you just want to eat and talk with friends and family, it's ideal.
