The apartment certainly warrants its 5 * rating with top quality fixtures and fittings and thermostatically controlled underfloor heating. The rooms are all of good size and well laid out although the kitchen is quite dark without the lights on. We are both light sleepers, so were delighted that we could not hear any noise from adjoining flats. The only minor issues we had were that the build-in microwave was set too high and there is no privacy on the balcony.

We stayed in apartment 5 which was one of two privately owned. The only downside I could work out is that the concierge didn't have a spare key, so beware not to loose the one and only. There is however a combination lockable draw to store the key outside the door.

We went down by train from London and travelled around the area by bus (It's free for us!). There is a circular bus route nearby which goes to the bus garage or it's a 15 minute walk. Buses go to most of the local beaches and the Eden project hourly. Due to the one way road system, all buses returning to Newquay go quite near the apartment block. Just get off at the California Bowl stop and keep walking down the road.

We were impressed by the communication and hospitality received soon after booking. Apart from detailed information on facilities and directions, I received a telephone call two days before arrival asking if we had any last minute questions. Mike, our concierge on the day of our arrival offered to take us to and from the Supermarket the next day.

If you like a good curry, then visit the Maharajah near the railway station. Apart from the good food, it's got terrific views over the main bay but you need to book early if you want a window seat. If you don't, there are two TV screens showing the CCTV pictures overlooking the bay.

I have no hesitation in recommending any of the apartments, but suggest you pick one on the 2nd or 3rd floors if you want a view over the bay. If you go onto the website, you can get floor maps showing the layouts of each apartment. Note that apartments with balconies face north/west so do not get the sun until later in the afternoon.

We stayed in Natural Retreats Fistral in August 2011. Our 3 bed apartment was stunning, and very large. Only 5 minute walk from the Fistral Beach. The Conceirge Kim was very helpful and friendly. The apartment had everything you needed, the kitchen spec and contents were well thought out. My only gripes would be that the duvets were too hot for August! and the Pimms jug too small!! We loved it so much we have just booked again for next year, and some friends have booked too..... Booking was very very friendly and again helpful and no credit card charge - always a bonus! Natural Retreats is how a holiday company can be and should be run... Thank you.

Upon my sister in-law booking this self catering apartment, i decided to take toilet roll with me, thinking it was such a good price it might be a dive. Well i'm more than pleased to say that it was fantastic and i loved it.
The thoughtfulness and special little touches meant that we needn't have taken anything extra and it really made us feel indulged. The staff had a nothing was too much of a problem attitude . (even when i spilt red wine on the nice white rug) .
This would be in our top five best apartments and number 1 for england
I will be going back and can't wait to get the opportunity to visit some of there other places.

We stayed (2 adults & a 15yr old) in the middle of August. We just managed to catch the last couple of days of the Boardmasters. It's in a great location for Fistral beach, only 5 minute walk away.
We stayed in Apt 1 in a 2 bed garden room. This was really well layed out and decorated throughout. The only downside was a bit of a smell which I think came from the drains!! Other than this the apartment was great.
If I was to go back, or indeed if you are thinking of going, try to get an apartment as high as you can. That way you would have an amazing sea view. The garden rooms do not, but you do get a large patio area.
The resort manager was helpful and pleasent, and she would arrange and advise whatever you required.

15 at Watergate Bay was a great stop one lunchtime and is easliy accessible by bus if you want a cheeky lunchtime tipple.

Room Tip: Try to get the top 2 floors rather than the garden or ground floor. You'll get much better sea views.

This is our third visit to a Natural Retreats location, and in terms of quality for Natural Retreats this falls behind Cornwall (St Austell) and Wales, however, in terms of general self catering accommodation this is of a high standard.  Our accommodation was a smaller 2 bed apartment and whilst there were sea views from the bedrooms, the opportunity to provide the same sort of views from the living room area wasn't taken.  The apartments above and below ours also suffered from the same issue.  The living room area was long, narrow and dark.  The apartment was well equipped but my wife and children had issues accessing some of the cupboards in the kitchen for plates, cups etc as they are too high up.  Overall the apartment was on the small side, and we would have benefited from a three bed even though we didn't need the extra bedroom.  Certainly the larger apartments look excellent. The car park spaces were very tight as well as the car park itself.  Each apartment has a beach shed  which are useful for surf boards, buckets spades etc.  I think Natural Retreats need to be more attentive towards their maintenance at this complex as there are various small issues.  There is a request on the washing machine to not wash the towels unless absolutely necessary.  I can't see how any one person can manage with the same bath towel and hand towel for a week!!.  The area generally is fantastic for scenery, walking, surfing, and dog friendly, although Natural Retreats don't allow dogs here.    Overall, highly recommended and would stay again, but in a different apartment.
