“Great Fish and chips with a great view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

Located on the entrance of the beach, so a lovely view and perfect for people watching. There are a couple of other places to eat and drink as well, all of a similar ilk. Perfect for starving children that have been in the sea all day!!

“Good but not my favourite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

When the sea is out this is a great beach for surfing but when the tide is in there are too many underwater rocks which are a hazard for beginner surfers and unpleasant to walk on. Great for bodyboarding and all beach activities. Good facilities nearby. .

“A fantastic beach - parkng can be a challenge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

The reputation of this beach is well placed, although it's famous for surfing it is still a great beach for swimmers and sun lovers as well.

It was safe with a life guard patrol at both ends and dedicated swimming and water sport areas. I was a little concerned before going that it's reputation for great surf would mean it was not good for younger children and other swimmers, I was wrong, it's great for all the family.

At the north end there are some great shops and restaurants, which are well worth a visit, and there are also hot showers (paid) and toilets etc.

It was clean, and dogs were also allowed on the beach when we visited in late July/ Early Aug. In the evening people were setting up BBQ's and there was a very relaxed atmosphere.

This was not a spoilt tacky tourist area and the beach is clean and a wonderful place to spend time, you might even see dolphins.

So why not a 5* rating, well parking is very limited and/ or expensive, but rather that than a multi-storey or over developed area.

Grab a kite, a dog, a body board, a book, or a surfing lesson and you are in for a fantastic time.
