We had a room with a seaview, which was clean, but it didn't smell great... Old carpet etc.
The staff was very disappointing. We arrived 20 mins earlier and the receptionist said we had to wait, as our room was not ready, she even did not ask for our name, so how she knew that I don't know. Also she wanted to charge us a double price for the parking. When I showed her a printed reservation, she said that our price was the correct one, but did not apologise.
We had 2 breakfasts there and I cannot remember if I had to wait such a long time to be served even in a busy restaurant.
I asked for some tea at least, and my tea came cold. We waited 25 mis to be served and asked the staff a few times to come to our table, but we noticed that everyone else was in the same situation. So on the second day we were a bit more patient.
Next day I ordered porridge, which was a bit cold and hard. I asked for a cup of hot milk and honey (twice), but never got it.
I would not recommend this hotel.

I and my daughter had a twin bedroom - good size, good bed and very clean. The bathroom was nice and very clean, too.

The staff was very polite and frindly.

The breakfast was good, and the restaurant very nice with a view to the sea. One day we also had dinner in the restaurant; the food was very good, but service here a bit slow.

All in all - a very good place to stay, when in Newquay.

drove to newquay excepting hotel to be on end of cliff but going though town sat nat says we are there in middle of very busy town centre not how it looks in phtos try to find carpark for hotel cant drove around one way system 3 times so pull in front of hotel i go in and ask where car park is ,young girl on rep says one on each side and walks away.go around one way again though busy town all we see is a barrier and chain down a small side.go back and tell rep, she calls a man who casually walks to chain and says in there not really both ed that we have been driving around for last 35 mins looking for car park.just so well hidden you wouldnt know its there. pay £10 for parking permit for 3 days.get key to room which looks over scruffy yard they call car park, put kettle on sit on bed and it is the noisy bed ever the room is very tired indeed, it is clean and bath room has been done up. breakfast was a night mare few staff clearly no exp all that was left on table were a few cereals nothing else ,asked for a bowl and juice took another 10 mins to top up table they were way behind with orders and was a very long time till received tea or breakfast.the.the gym was not there at all and pool looked not well kept. .hotel would be lovely if some work was done to do it up some.and they employed staff with experience instead of running it badly. up date ten days latter get a parking ticket fora £100 fine for parking in hotel car park when the permit was in wind screen whole time phone hotel they say will cancel .today get another letter demanding £100 have phoned hotel again will see what happens we have been on loads of weekends away and never payed to park this one we had to pay and get a parking fine.they are daft because the pic of car on letter you can see the permit in car crazy wont be going back .

This was our first time in Cornwall and Newquay was not for us. The hotel was very comfortable we stayed in the Ocean Suite which was very luxurious. The weather was great so we made full use of the balcony and the stunning views. Breakfast was very good although service was on the slow side. We also had dinner on both nights which was reasonably priced and of reasonable quality and definitely more relaxing than the takeaways and restaurants in the resort. The gym was well equipped and the swimming pool small but better than the sea which was awash with jellyfish. I would recommend the hotel but not the resort.

My husband and I just returned from a quick trip to Cornwall, we stayed at Hotel Victoria for 1 night in the Harbour Suite. The suite was quite expensive due to it being the high season and there has been beautiful weather, increasing already high demand. First impression...the hotel was probably once a beautiful property but has not been maintained to a high standard. It needs some serious renovations.

The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating to the fact that we were travelling with our dog. We really appreciated everyone we encountered while we were there and if it were the staff alone, we'd be coming back.

Unfortunately the staff can't make up for the state of the hotel. The main lobby looks OK. Our room however was another story. We had a GORGEOUS view from the harbour suite, however that can't make up for how much we paid to stay in a room with stains on the carpet, cracks & stains on the walls, spider webs covering the railing and furniture on the deck, and a toilet that took about 4 attempts to get to flush. Not to mention the outside deck was covered in bird poo...I realize the birds will do what they want and that can't be avoided, but it didn't look like anyone had even tried to clean it in a while. The room was pretty shabby and the price did match the quality. Also, as previous reviewers have noted, the room was very hot and could do with larger window openings to air it out.

This property has huge potential (despite the not so pleasant shops across the street) and if someone could come in and put some money into it to bring it up to standard, it would be a great place to stay. For us though, we won't be staying here again.
