“Great Family Suite with Seaview”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Recently stayed in for 2 nights, room were already ready when we check in. View was great. However, bar wasn't open till 6. Only 1 outdated and slow lift. Parking £5/ night for hotel guest! No Wifi in the room, only available on G/F! Other then that, staffs were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.

Room Tip: Make sure get the seaview, it's worthed!

Me And my partner stayed here for 4 nights 18th-22nd august. Lovely hotel. Staff were really nice and answered all the questions we had.
Stayed in room 101. Was small but adequately furnished. The bed was a standard double and wasn't good. Very hard, with a think duvet meant for a kingsize I think. Not good for my 6'3 partner. He said his feet felt restricted because of the heavy duvet and his feet were off the end. Breakfast was ok. I Don't recommend the sausages.
Took a while to get tea or coffee and a few times we had to ask for it. Gets a lot busier just after 9am so I'd recommend getting there earlier.
The pool and jacuzzi were warm, clean and inviting. Changing room showers we horrid. Not very clean.

Pros:
Really nice hotel
great location,
courteous staff,
Leisure facilities a good addition.

Cons:
Very hard bed
Cooked breakfast could be better

Overall it was a nice stay. Yes it's worn in places and it's old furniture in the bedrooms but that's what you would expect in that type of hotel. I would stay again if I was ever in Newquay.

Spent a night at this hotel, great location with lovely views, pool and jacuzzi nice and warm, Rooms of a good size could possibly do with a lick of paint here and there, but comfortable. Staff friendly and welcoming, Breakfast was good again with nice views over the beach/cove, Onsite parking is £5 a day, but is a small car park for the size of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if/when we return to newquay

So good we are writing this while we are still here. We were in Berties Lodge last year and really enjoyed the stay so thought we would try the hotel this year. Arrived on Sat 16th to find we had a complimentary upgrade to a sea view with a balcony so bonus straight away.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts have been great.
It was my birthday on Tues and I even got a card from the hotel which was a very nice gesture.
Sure the carpets are threadbare, right through in some places, but this adds to the character. Think about it, that piece of stair you can see is the original step people walked on in Victorian times!
We would definitely recommend a stay. It is all about management of expectations

Just got back today after a three night stay and over all I had a wonderful time. The plus points are the staff, reception, bar and breakfast staff were polite, friendly and helpful at all times. The hotel lobby and seating areas are pretty and in suiting to the date of the hotel, I was also happy with WI FI areas. The swimming pool was fab and very warm.
The lows - bed was really uncomfortable and when travelling with someone who suffers from a bad back - a real sore point - excuse the pun! Despite the staff being amazing at breakfast there seemed a huge problem with their being enough food at any given time to feed the guests, however when it was there it was very nice. (Crispy bacon would be lovely - hint hint!) The room was dated but to be fair that did not bother me to much, however in the future the hotel could look at updating.
I don't think £5 a day parking was to bad, as the hotel is so centrally located. I am glad we had a midweek break as I think the noise from the nightclub next door would have terrible but hey ho it did not effect us.
I would go back again for sure.

what a fantastic 2 night break away we had, the hotel was better than we imagined, the rooms were clean, comfortable and excellently furnished, but it was the staff who made our stay extra special especially the restaurant staff who couldn't have been more friendly, helpful or professional an nothing was to much for them

Room Tip: sea view room a must if a light sleeper as the road in front of the hotel very busy from six in the...

Up there was one of the worst hotels that i've had the mispleasure to stay in.
We stayed as a large group and the hotel was booked because of the fantastic pictures online on both their website and on booking.com.

The hotel is weathered and old. As we drove into the car park I thought we hand typed the wrong post code into the Sat Nav!!! The main entrance is impressive although dated but that is where any effort to maintain standards stops.

The shower was nothing more than a trickle but the worst aspect of our stay is was the bed. It was without a doubt the most uncomfortable bed i've slept in; it was lumpy and dipped in the middle. Also the pillow where wafer thin! Any repair work that had been done was not made good.

Breakfast was OK, but I wouldn't recommend the sausages!!!

The staff however were pleasant, there is no complaints about them.
