We booked 4 nights here via a Groupon deal. When we arrived, there had been a mix up with our booking. This was rectified and we were put in the Trevose Suite. WOW. Great view and a great room.
The rest of the hotel has so much character too. As you walk inside, it is immediately apparent that this was an opulent hotel in times gone by. But much of the grandeur and character remains. Very spacious, high ceilings, chandeliers all create the feeling of style.
Breakfast was great too.
I would definitely stay here again.

Room tip: Sea view rooms are worth the extra charge.

This hotel is in the perfect area in Newquay, i wish we had more to say about it on the good side, but i don't, the hotel needs to be closed and ripped out and done up, major works need to be carried out, start with the lobby.

So the lobby have a tiny area where the staff are crammed in the corner no room for them, they have all been helpful it needed.
The stairs have tape on them to cover the rips, its a shame.

The pool.
So the pool is deep enough to dive in, it has a sauna jaccuzzi and gym and a steam room that doesn't turn on, this area is where they tell people to go whilst waiting for check in if you arrived before 3pm!
The pool area needs new tiles and a new roof, the changing area needs to a demo and re-think it.

The room i stayed in (314) is overlooking the street, some times noisey with all the traffic, the shower hear can not be moved and it is low so you need duck to get a shower, if your over 5ft 6.

I wish i could find the owner and offer my help as id have this building the best place to stay in cornwall, then id be happy to pay the £1000 p/w summer costs.

Oh parking, it costs £5 per day or if you stay longer than 3 days its £15 at the most.

I paid £230 to stay here for 5 nights as its out of season, if you want to stay, any time after September and before May is the price this hotel should be all year, around £200 per week!

We have stayed in the hotel previously, and decided to revisit this January.
It is right in the middle of Newquay, and is surrounded by loads of great restaurants - highly recommend Stavros! (Greek restaurant over the road).
Hotel is great - lovely bar area with a open fire, breakfast room is grand and elegant. The hotel is very dated (and could do with a refresh), but for the price you pay, it's a real bargain.
The staff are amazing! Can't fault them. They really bent over backwards to make sure we had a lovely stay - including moving us to a better room due to a noise problem in our initial room.
Nothing was too much hassle!
Couldn't recommend enough :)

Great facility's fab location. Food very good hot and plentiful. Rooms warm. Clean. (Bathrooms need a bit more bleach for mound in grout). Bed firm. Pillows firm. Furniture could do with updating and replacing missing handles. Soft close door hinges would be nice. General re decoration. With small improvements a 4* would be on the cards!!

We booked a sea-view room and weren't disappointed. Was well sized with 2 2-seater sofas. Lovely to wake up and see the view from our room. (Shame we couldn't have got out onto the huge balcony) Would definitely book again, maybe next February for our Anniversary. Only thing I would say is, everyone who seemed to have booked through a certain site that gives cheap deals and offers on things, all seemed to have their keys as soon as they booked in (there were quite a few we observed whilst sitting waiting) whereas we didn't, our room wasn't ready (although to be fair it was ready in time for the check in time given-minus a free cream tea that they all seemed to have too) so maybe next time we may look into how we book. Very clean hotel, Reception staff were all friendly.
