“The Hotel Bristol with lovely ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

I`m not racist but it was terrific to stay at an English hotel where all the "upfront" staff were all English. The room was larger than we expected for a one night stay.Lovely view over Tolcarne Beach.Really comfortable beds .Usual TV etc.Lift worked OK.Plenty of "off street " parking. The beer was no more expensive than my local pub.Bar staff "knew their business" and kept up with demand !!!
Well done Hotel Bristol....

Room Tip: We didn`t have children so we don`t know about that and we didn`t try the Spa.Our party stayed in ro...

Although we didn't eat here at all I felt I should write this review anyway. The room we stayed in was spacious, spotlessly clean and light. We had a bit of a sea view and the room had all the facilities you could need. There is a swimming pool on site but we didn't use it. The beds are fairly comfortable and the linen is clean and crisp. I personally prefer duvets but the blankets were fine. We had a good nights sleep as the room was quiet until the seagulls woke up!! Bless them. Would stay here again and maybe try the food out.

We spent 2 nights here last week. our room was amazing with views overlooking the sea on the side of the hotel. The room was massive and the bed was so comfy. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant, just breakfast which was great, The swimming pool was warm and when we went we were the only ones there. ALL the staff at this hotel seemed to love being there and the customer service was excellent. Could not fault it.

I booked a single room at short notice for a wedding shoot, but was upgraded to a twin on my (late) arrival. The view was stunning (see picture), the bed comfy, the room clean and the staff fantastic - especially the woman on the desk as I arrived.

The hotel was well sound proofed, and I wasn't awoken at any point during the night. The sea view rooms have some traffic noise, but are worth it!

Breakfast was yummy - £11 for a great egg & smoked salmon stack with lots of salmon. The wedding breakfast was very nice too. Recommended, especially if you can get a sea view.

Room Tip: 243 was lovely!

I hate having to knock this place, because the staff all seemed pleasant and meant well and I believe this is a long served family run hotel, it's just that hotels like this shouldn't exist anymore. Like something from a 1950's timewarp, this hotel is now an embarassment to Cornwall and England. I noticed that a number of the guests were foreign, I can only hope that their visit to our country hasn't been too ruined by being put up in such a dump. Newquay seems to have a few hotels left like this. Unclear whether this is because the owners are maliciously milking the place for every last penny before being condemmed or whether they have simply lost the plot regarding what a basic 3 Star room looks like in 2013. This hotel needs serious investment in room upgrades. Please don't hide behind some historical belief that you provide some old world charm, even bargain basement Travelodge and Premier Inns provide a clean and newly upgraded room. Cracked tiles, stained carpets and curtains, brown furniture and blankets on worn beds no longer cut the mustard. To potential guests I suggest this is an emergency choice only, to the owners I plead, please upgrade your rooms even if only one at a time. Cornwall deserves better than this !

Stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday because we had a wedding on lusty glaze beach .The staff were very friendly and polite and helpful. Would come back again yet another credit to the Best Western chain.

Room Tip: Try to get a seaview room as you will have a splendid view.

We were attend an event and have stayed before. The hotel is clean and tidy but, has a strange atmosphere. If, you are retired and want a quiet hotel this would be right for you. However, for us we felt uncomfortable and unwanted. The staff looked unhappy which fitters through to the guests. A beautfitul position with lovely sea views though. So, the choice is yours. We would stay again but, room only to enable us to choose where we eat and in a better atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea vie., Ensure you are there early enough to get a parking space. We had problems findin...
