“Affordable luxury”
Reviewed 28 March 2011

We were in Cornwall for 2 nights for a wedding and chose The Atlantic because it was close to the venue.
From the moment we stepped inside the front door, we knew we had made a good choice. The decor is plush, traditional, comfortable.
Reception was pleasant and helpful, in spite of the difficulties they were working under due to a sudden power cut in their area of Newquay.
Our room had the luxury of a walk-in wardrobe, which, having all our wedding clothes to hang up, was a real plus for us. An iron and ironing board was provided as soon we requested them and we were invited to keep them for the the weekend, which we did.
The breakfast choice was probably the best I have seen.
The hotel is in a commanding position overlooking the beach, and we were lucky enough to have been allocated a window table for both mornings of our stay.
We had one evening meal in Silks, a lively and informal bistro which is part of the hotel.
The price we paid in late March was £180 for two nights B & B per room. Given the high standard of the establishment, we consider that to be excellent value for money.
(Pity they do not provide free WIFI)

Having stay here on many occasions up to 3 years ago when we stopped going due the the tired facilities and rooms. What a transformation now.
Big new rooms decorated to a high standard. All new bathrooms windows, balconies, furniture and good beds.
This time of the year is quiet so no dinner other than in Silks Bistro, which is very good, but plenty of choice a short walk away.
The outside pool is being refurbished and will be good by the summer.
Not the cheapest of hotels but well worth paying for quality.
Now lets hope they improve the lounge and bar area.
Fantastic views of the beaches from the room.

Had a number of problems - Including shower not working properly/scafolding outside window/filthy dirty spa bath/another guest sick on my shoes/fire alarm going off
Emailed hotel and after 3 further emails to chase response/rcvd email from owner saying every point raised was a lie and advised me not to ever go there again - no chance of that...

We stayed here for a 4 day Christmas break in a suite. We could not fault the hotel or staff in any way, everything was excellent. The rooms are very well appointed with fantastic views. Above all the food was of an exceptionally high standard with a superb choice. Would certainly return.

watch out if you're staying at this hotel, the car park that appears to be connected to the hotel is a pay and display car park but it is unclearly marked and almost impossible to see in the dark. Ended up getting a wheel clamp and cost £85 to be released.

Went to hotel for a business function, bar staff and waiting staff were very unhelpful and staff were quite rude to a number of our clients/suppliers

We stayed at The Atlantic Hotel in May 2010, when I rang to book a room I had never stayed at the Atlantic before and the receptionist who answered the phone recommended the corner room with sea views at the total cost of £120.00 per night including breakfast. When arriving at the hotel we were pleased to see how grand the outside looked, checking in and finding our room was no problem and very pleasant and the room itself was absolutely stunning! The website did not do itself enough justice. I would of happily paid more for the room that we stayed in as the room was decorated beautifully and the views we had were breath taking. The room was also very clean and inviting. Even though there was a prom taking place in the hotel that night the sound was minimum. We felt very welcome and the breakfast we had we were very pleased with.
We go to Newquay every year and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in and will continue to re-visit every year. We still find ourselves raving to friends and family about how amazing the hotel and our experience was at the Atlantic!

This was our second stay at the atlantic, it is fantastic, the rooms are superb and the hotel is beautiful, the breakfasts are delicious and very varied. Silks bistro is set in the hotel and offers an array of great food and is stylish in design. All the staff are really helpful and friendly. We will be coming back very soon. We love it.
