We stayed in the Atlantic for 3 nights in february. When we arrived we were greated by friendly staff and the lobby was beautiful. When we went into the room it was a superior with sea view and I must say that the view was stunning. Very large room, massive bed big tv, fridge/freezer, walk in wardrobe table and chairs the works. The bathroom was large and very well presented looked brand new. We ate in the restaurant and I must say the food was brilliant could not fault it and the dining room was stunning. The only thing that let the hotel down was the fact the pool was freezing, I half expected to see penguins in it...... also the jacuzzi was luke warm too so we went in the sauna instead. Overall a lovely few days highly recommended and was assuted the pool was a glitch as they forgot to turn the pool heaters on. 8/10 will definitely be going again.

Dear Mike S,

Thank you for your recent review of The Atlantic Hotel. It's nice to hear that you had a friendly welcome and it's lovely to read that you felt the reception area was beautiful.

Our superior rooms are a great base for exploring Newquay, and as you say are very spacious with a cosy bed! Apologies about the cold pool, I believe this was a temporary blip, however I am glad that it did not impact upon your stay with us.

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Atlantic Hotel in the future.

We have stayed at the Atlantic hotel for a few days. When we arrived we immediately got frustrated, since the hotel wanted a 75£ per day deposit to open an account such that we could charge extras to our room. For us that would have meant a 375£ deposit to allow us to have a drink in the bar. We both travel extensively in business and this is the first time we have encountered an arrangement like this. We considered it completely ridiculous and decided to spend our money elsewhere, since the hotel didn´t appear want it. Eventually they opened an account for us without the deposit.

So, we were slightly dissatisfied customers already on the first day. However, the hotel won us over, through:

Spacious and well-furnished room, with a newly renovated bathroom.

Balcony with a fantastic view (one of the top five hotel views we have ever experienced). We have never been to Cornwall before, and wanted to see the landscape, the cliffs and the sea - and from the balcony we got all that in abundance.

Great breakfast, which we had on the terrace. Friendly and attentative staff. Nice Polish guy, always ready to prepare the eggs the way you prefer them.

The Silks Bistro, where we had dinner one night - a pleasant evening. The food was good, though the service was somewhat disorganised.

Great location, on a hill overlooking the town. Close to the action, but isolated from the noice and crowds.

There was only one problem: the weather was wonderful. Apparently, this summer was warmer than in the last 20 years, which meant that the rooms, that usually can do without A/C, now got very warm. Almost to the level where it was difficult to sleep at night.

We can recommend this hotel, though they should abandon the requirement for a 75£ per night deposit. When you book, insist that they waive it.

Dear Q354nemo,

Thank you for reviewing our hotel on Tripadvisor. Our policy regarding extras accounts states that our receptionists do a preauthorisation of £75 per night and then you pay for what you have used at the end of your stay. Although this caused you frustration, I am happy that the hotel was able to provide you with a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our luxury newly refurbished bathrooms and we are especially thrilled that you rank our coastal views as one of the best hotel views you have ever visited.

Our staff try to cater for every guests' needs and I am glad you found our breakfast chef particularly attentive. I do appreciate that our recent spell of hot weather made the rooms warmer than normal, we don't get weather this hot very often!!

Thank you for taking the time to review us, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Atlantic Hotel in the future.

I stayed there for 1 week and I stayed in thevnormal sea view room! I really enjoyed staying there and I found the room nice, clean and the view was FANTASTIC!!! I thought that the food was great and the staff was AMAZING and SO helpful! The only thing that wasn't very good was that the elevator was broken and it took a LONG time for them to fix it!!! Other than that it was all great! I defenitely recommend this hotel and I will defenitely be going there again!

Stayed here for 5 nights last week. Superior room with sea view was fantastic. Hotel overall was great and felt 4 star all round. Staff were helpful and chatty and nothing was too much trouble. Great quiet location on the head land but might get a bit noisy if a wedding is on. Only downside was pricey food and drink at Silks compared to other bars / restaurants in Newquay but there are plenty of places in walking distance. Overall a wonderful break and would definitely go back to the Atlantic!

We stayed at The Atlantic for two nights at the end of June and only wished we could have stayed longer! The Atlantic enjoys a beautiful setting with sea views and lovely scenery.
We had booked a sea view balcony superior and was very disappointed when we walked in to find that the balcony was off the bathroom and the views lead straight on to a roof and you could barely see the sea. I never complain but as this was a special weekend I decided to go and ask if we could change rooms. Receptionist was very pleasant and offered us to look at a a twin room (beds pushed together, which wasn't a problem) with better views - we fell in love with this room and agreed we would accept it. The rest of the stay was very positive, room was spacious, modern, spotlessly clean and the sea view was great.
The entrance lobby and rest of the hotel was stunning. The red carpet was out for a wedding on the Saturday evening which looked very glam!
We didn't eat at the restaurant as we had booked a table at Jamie Oliver's in Watergate Bay (which was amazing and is only a £10.00 taxi fare away!) but it looked lovely and we did have a couple of drinks in the bar.
We ate breakfast in another part of the hotel though which was delicious and the chef there was extremely friendly.
Newquay itself has gone quite downhill in the fact that it is very popular with stag nights but as the hotel is up on the hill you are far enough away from that. In the day there is still a lovely atmosphere and the shops are great.
We would definitely stay at the Atlantic again and would even request the same room.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are better if you are on a higher floor

It's lovely that you made the most of our location by visiting Jamie Oliver's nearby restaurant, which as you say, is only a small taxi fare away and strolling into town to make the most of what Newquay has to offer in the day time.

Stayed here for 3 nights in June after really enjoying our first stay back in October.
Had a lovely room (superior double) big bathroom and lots of living space!
The breakfast is incredible and the chef should be commended on his cooking and fabulous personality he makes every guest that enters the breakfast room like they are a local and is always very friendly!
The bar is really relaxed and the staff are attentive and polite.
There were only two downsides in that on the last day the bath leaked water all over the floor whilst filling it up but after a quick call to reception the porter (who was incredibly helpful!) had a look and they soon gave us a complimentary upgrade and were very apologetic.
The other downside was there was a wedding at the hotel and on returning from our meal at around 9.30pm we found it very difficult to find a parking space as most of the cars were guests
Of the wedding and didn't have an atlantic hotel permit, after driving round for 20 mins finally a few wedding guests left and we were able to park around the back. Not a big problem but felt that there should've been places reserved for paying guests of the hotel. All in all had a good time and would definitely return for a 3rd time.

Dear Claire112,

It is lovely to hear that you came back to us for a three night break in June after such an enjoyable stay in October 2012 - Our superior rooms provide the perfect refuge for a short stay!

I am glad that you enjoyed the tasty breakfast - made using local Cornish produce - and were welcomed so nicely by our head chef. It's also good to hear that you found the bar staff polite, as we try to maintain a high standard of customer service here at The Atlantic.

It is unfortunate that you had a few incidents with the room on your last day but it sounds like our staff did their best to accommodate your needs.

I would like to thank you for reviewing the hotel and we look forward to welcoming you back for a third stay in the future!

We were originally booked for 6 nights but extended our stay to 8. Fantastic location, super helpful staff, very nice food in the Silks Restaurant and a lovely Suite. Breakfast cook happy to go out of the way to make Porridge (not on the menu) and to show us how to cook the best Poached Eggs. Everyone super helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Only downsides were that the lift was inoperable throughout our stay (we were warned the week before we arrived that they were awaiting a part), so we got incredibly fit given our Suite being on the third floor. The free hotel WiFi works well from public areas of the hotel but unfortunately couldn't get a signal in our room.

Those two nuances apart, we'd have no hesitation staying here again the next time we're in Cornwall. An enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Room Tip: Suite 305 has superb views across Newquay Bay
