“Great View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2012

We turned up in Newquay and looked around for a b&b. We found Seashells and luckily enough they had a room. The room had great views and the spec was fantastic for a "little b&b".! Brian and Julie was great hosts and the breakfast was very enjoyable. Just far enough from the Town Centre for noise not to be a problem and close to the harbour, and a short walk to Fistral Beach. Will stay again if we are every back that way.

we stayed at the seashells for the one night and was not impressed at all,

ok so the room looked tidy and the veiws were really lovely but then it goes downhill from there,
the room although looked tidy it was very bare and minimal, with only two cheap tea-bags two small milks and a little coffee to go around these two tiny milks,(we had to go buy our own milk) my wife was not happy that there was nowhere to get ready to go out, no hair dryer no where to sit and dry her hair or get ready if there was a hair dryer,
the bed in our room we both just could not get any good sleep due to it being very uncomfortable, the remote lighting in the bathroom kept switching on and off all night,
breakfast we were told was a 9am but when we got up and went down stairs at 8.30am i asked if i could have our breakfast a little early as we wanted to get on we were told no as the sausages were in the oven cooking which tell me these were cheap frozen sausages and not fresh, i found dirt in the top cereal dish, the full english was not to good either, my wife had diet needs and asked for scrambled eggs with beans and it came with out no beans.

and to top it all off we were told out car would be safe outside the B&B and when we went out to our car it had the out side side mirror on the pavement side smashed out and lieing on the floor, ok thats not the B&B fault but they did ensure me it would be safe there,

The man who seemed to run it all was quite friendly tho not helpfull with breakfast times and the women who i only seen sitting down was quite unfriendly and seems very miserable on the phone when she took my booking and when i tried to introduce my wife to her just seemed quite abrupt and just not interested,

we paid £70 for this room for one night and when you pay that sort of money for a simple B&B I expect a little bit extra as i know there are far cheaper ones around this area, if it were not for the lovely sea views i would of rating this place as Terrible,

I really dislike leaveing bad reviews but i feel i need to inform other travelers when somewhere is 1st class like my last review of a B&B in looe was the night before here and some where is just cheap and just out to get as much as they can for as little effort they can put in, its a real shame as this place has the potential of being so much better but it needs a lot of changes to be made,

if the owner does read this review and wants some good advice i would tell them to go and spend a night at the dolphin house B&B just up the road in looe and see how they do things and they will learn loads from there of how a B&B should be run!!

After deciding to extend our stay in Newquay for another night we came across Seashells Guest House. We received a warm welcome from the owners and everywhere was spotless. The views were spectacular and our spacious room had a large bay window with a couple of chairs to sit and take it all in! Breakfast was excellent and nicely cooked. Again the views in the dining room were stunning. Thank you for a lovely overnight stay.
