“One of the best holiday parks we've been to”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2012

We just spent a week at this holiday park and were generally very impressed. We were in a Trenance static, one level up from the basic but it was as good as the top level ones we have stayed in at other parks. The caravan was spotlessly clean, beds made up when we arrived and pretty comfortable too (for a mobile home). There were 7 of us and the caravan was big enough so that we didn't feel cramped. It appeared to be quite new, or recently refurbished. A really lovely touch was the very generous welcome pack which consisted of bread, butter, jam, milk, some tea coffee and sugar sachets and a bottle of wine. We have never experienced this before even at more expensive parks.

So far as the facilities are concerned, we didn't really use the clubhouse apart from the quiz (which we won - another bottle of wine!) but the activities appeared to be pretty varied although the park generally appeared to be very quiet, as it was not during the school holidays there were very few children around. Two of the party used the fishing pond on one occasion and had no trouble catching fish - they were practically giving themselves up. We used the pool only once, very briefly, as the weather wasn't too good, but it seemed to be a really nice area.

The surroundings were wonderful, the site is beautifully kept with small garden areas everywhere full of flowers, well maintained grassy areas and no mess or litter anywhere that we saw. There seemed to be gardeners at work all the time keeping the weeds under control. After a very windy day, all the tree debris was removed immediately. The park is very close to both Newquay and Perranporth and plenty of other very nice beaches. It is not close to any built up area so is very quiet. We didn't need to enlist the help of staff very much, but all of the dealings we had with them were positive.

Just a couple of little criticisms on the basis that constructive criticism can be helpful for future development of the site. We very much felt the lack of wi-fi. These days, so much reliance is placed on use of the internet for planning what to do, where to go, and taking advantage of online offers. I realise that this can be done prior to arrival, but English weather is so unreliable it isn't always possible to make plans until you get up and see what the weather is like that day. I also realise that many people have internet enabled phones, but not everyone does and actually the 3g reception was not that good in the area. I think that these days, access to the internet in any place that offers accommodation is essential and it surely would be possible, not necessarily all over the park but at least in the reception or clubhouse. I see that other reviewers have mentioned the shop and the bakery. I agree - the shop was not especially well stocked with essentials particularly bread first thing in the morning. I understand that the bread delivery is erratic but possibly some bread could be kept in the freezer. Obtaining bread was a bit of an issue for us, 7 people get through quite a bit and there are very few shops in the immediate area. The bakery was only open at weekends the week we were there. I appreciate that when the park is quiet it may not be worth opening it every day, but no mention was made on the website (so far as I can see) that the bakery is not open every day, there were no opening hours posted in the window, and the information given on arrival did not mention the opening hours of the bakery. Despite these two issues we had a wonderful time, weather could have been better but if Monkey Tree ever solve the problem of the English weather we will be customers for life (along with the rest of the population I suspect).

On arriving very freindly receptionists who kept our luggage for us while we were out and about while waiting for caravan.... caravan was clean and smelled nice very modern and contempory,, but to be honest was a little disapointed with the welcome pack as we have recieved these at other caravan parks and they had better basics ie... cereals tea bags bacon ... wash up liquid... not bothered bout wine or praline chocs but hey ho ,,, complimentary so ill beg to differ...Unfortunatly the weather the week we stayed was not grand and we had loads of rain... and outside of our caravan no 1... padstow was flooded so bad we had to jump over it!!! i rang to inform reception of this and they said they would send maintenance but no one came... in fact the housekeeper (a lovely lady who was more helpful) said she was aware there was a problem.... this flooding happened 2 more times over subsequent days so we ended up parking opposite the caravan in a vacant space! The animal and fishing area is excellant and the Owls excellent.... Take Away only opened twice in 2 weeks.... The bakery NEVER opened... The shop was ok but poorly stocked....... Swimming Pool looked ok but due to adverse weather was covered the rest of the time.... The Arcade was only open a couple of times and YES the machines were mostly out of order......As we have no kids i cant comment on the kids facilities etc but these seemed to be open! The bar area seemed nice and we had a drink there which was reasonably priced abd the bar lady was very nice as we used the wifi facilities although it took a while to get a code that worked! It seemned to us that if it wasnt for the housekeeeper we wouldent have been acknowledged and when we left a day early i was explaining why but i just got the vibe she didnt want to hear bout my woes anyways.... Note... barbecue is basic not Gas so bring your own supplies... nice table chairs and sunbeds...Wouldent stay here again place was like a ghost Town i like life !

we're repeat customers of Monkey Tree and that in itself sums up this little gem in Cornwall, really hesitant to write this because i don't want to share so that it becomes too popular but that would be very unfair of me because the staff really deserve the recognition for their hard work. The park is well laid out with enough space for everyone, the pitches for both caravans and tents is very good with no problems with drainage as i know of, the pitches we've stayed on are level too. There's a good cafe/restaurant that serves food including breakfast at reasonable prices (bear in mind this is Cornwall so expect to pay a little more) there's a smaller cafe more on the pitch side that keeps everyone fed at night too, there is plenty of space for the kids to play not to mention the outdoor pool (this is the one area i REALLY wish could have some money spent on it, pool's abit small and the area feels too enclosed). The club has regular nightly entertainment that varies and 'da Monkey' is usually to be found here, as is (sadly) the norm, if you want a seat you need to get in early! there's a small arcade that is abit of a 'den' for the kids to hang out and get to know each other. The showers, loos, laundry etc are all very good but i do wish visitors would make less mess in there, must drive the staff mad when they try so hard to keep it clean at all times. The shop is good but could do with being kept stocked a little better. There is also a fishing pool but this isn't my 'bag' so i can't comment further. The thing with Monkey Tree is that the staff work sooo hard to keep you happy, even going out of their way to sort available caravans to hire when the weathers so bad your tent isn't a great place to be ("thankyou" booking team you were fab xxx) Did i mention they also have static caravans for hire?????.. The atmosphere at Monkey Tree is very family friendly (no groups of male or female partys allowed!) and the security team are visable but not 'in your face', the park is barrier operated so is also very secure. Monkey Tree is a lovely family place to holiday within driving distance of too many wonderful places for me to list them plus it would spoil the exploring, the beaches and sea in this area are truly exceptional and with the sun shining (hopefully!) you won't want to leave! Keep up the good work Monkey Tree, we do appreciate it :)

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in our tent. Firstly, a great location not too close to to windy coast butr close to Newquay, Perranporth and the A30. The booking system was very efficient and the lady we spoke to was very helpful allowing us to stay Friday-Friday and we could add our dog to the booking later on if our pet-sitter cancelled on us. The pitch was a great size (we have a 10-man tent and our estate car was next to it with room to spare) so we didn't feel like we were on top of our neighbours. The park was clean with regular water and chemical disposal points and well maintained with beautiful flowers- a real credit to the gardeners who quietly got on with their work during the day. Most areas had growing or developed hedgerows for wind protection and privacy. The showers were spotless and modern with plenty of hot water and each cubicle was split so that your clothes actually stayed dry. The facilities were excellent although we felt the drinks were a little expensive but were told that this is typical prices for the area. Food in the restaurant was good quality pub grub which came in large portions. The shop sold a range of products and there is a freezer for ice packs but it doesn't work on an exchange basis, you just freeze your own. The entertainment staff were very friendly and professional and we could see the children were having a great time. There was differing entertainment each night. There weren't that many people in the clubhouse when we stayed as it was just after Whitsun week but the entertainers still made the effort and got us involved (definately not pressured though) in things such as snooker games or dart comps which meant we made friends with other families and we all had a laugh. I have nothing but good words for this site and its somewhere I'd recommend to all, from singles to large families.

Room Tip: Pitches on the edge of the fields rather than the middle are better weather wise

Stayed here for one week in June 2012. Perfect location to Newquay and Perranporth. So impressed with the booking in procedure, fast and efficent, staff very welcoming, Gave us a map of the site and showed us exactly where are caravan was. Caravan was in perfect condition, clean and well equipped. Beds were made and there was a welcome pack, which having travelled 7 hours was very much appreciated. The pack consisted of bread, milk, butter, jam, tea, coffee, sugar and a bottle of wine, perfect. The site is spotless and the animal encounters near the fishing lake is lovely for the children. Well equipped with childrens activities and even have a kids club along with Funky Monkey. The entertainment in the club bar is great and we really enjoyed the family quiz and my kids really enjoyed Mr Wacky. We would recommend the resturant and had a good range of foods for adults and children. All the staff was friendly and approchable and nothing was too much trouble. We have been going to Cornwall for the past 12 years and this is definatly the best site we have been on for cleanliness, customer service and activities and value for money, We will definatley be going again and will recommend this is friends and family. Many thanks Monkey Tree, see you again soon!!!

We stayed at this park in one of the Crantock statics. We were very impressed with it and found it great value for money.
Myself and my partner stayed with our dog and I have to say as a pet friendly caravan, there was no smell or trace of other dogs. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained.
The welcome gift was great as after being stuck in all the traffic coming down we couldn’t wait for a cup of tea, and this meant we didn’t have to unpack all our stuff to do this.
The park was well kept and there was even a designated path to walk our dog on.
On one evening during our stay the weather was awful and very windy which interfered with the TV signal. We informed reception who apologised profusely.
About half an hour after informing reception, the park manager Laura arrived at our caravan with a goody bag of DVDs, popcorn and a bottle of wine as an apology.
I was very impressed at this, particularly as it wasn’t really a fault of the park that the TV signal was poor. Customer service at its best!
All of the staff seemed to be friendly; but we didn’t use many of the facilities as we were here with the dog. The bakery and take-away were very good and affordable.
I had a quick look at the camping facilities whilst we were here and they seemed to be good. Think next time we come we might try camping with the tent; hopefully we will get a bit better weather.
Lots of dog friendly beaches in the nearby area, we were even amazed that Lewinnick Lodge in Newquay allow dogs. We had lunch there on 2 occasions; the views are great from there!

Thank you for your review of Monkey Tree.

It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our Housekeeping Team work extremely hard to provide great standards of cleanliness so I am sure that they will be especially pleased to hear that you found one of our pet friendly caravans of such a high standard.

I'm glad that you managed to explore the local area and find plenty of dog friendly places, I'm sure there are probably even more which you have not yet discovered!

We hope to see you back at Monkey Tree in the near future whether you decide to re-visit us in a holiday home or decide to try out the camping! Should you decide to camp you may like to try one of our Super Deluxe Pitches which includes a private bathroom for the sole use of your Family, this may be a nice half way house!

Hope to see you again soon!
