“Good Hotel!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014 via mobile

Very clean hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is very good for a basic hotel, £63 a night for a standard double room may be a little much but you seem to pay more in Newquay! All in all a nice hotel but basic.

Great location and service. Lovely breakfast. The room was well equipped but basic. Hotel is very much catered for families. Woken up early by children in surrounding rooms and in the corridors. Children are allowed in the pool area throughout its opening times so no adults only. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Hello NicolaR81
Thank you for your review and I glad you enjoyed the service and location of the hotel. Yes we are a family hotel and yes there can be a lot of children around.
I recommend your next visit should be to our sister hotel The Fistral Beach which caters for couples.
Kind Regards

There was a great sea view from the room. We found that it was far too hot in the hotel, which must have suited the large number of elderly guests. The beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was a lot like feeding time at the zoo and also starting quite late at 8:00. However, the staff were friendly & it's a great location.

Hello Claire M

I agree the view is lovely and thank you for the positive feedback in regards to the staff.
Obviously at this time of year with the weather and temperature varying a lot we do try our best to manage the temperature of the hotel. Sorry you found it too warm during your stay.
Sorry you found the beds uncomfortable if we had known we would have done something to improve the situation as we are aware some people find new mattresses slightly harder than what they are use to sleeping on.
Thank you for your feedback.
Kind Regards

Me and my partner stayed in the hotels best room and absolutely loved it, the room had the wow factor and the hotel had gone to a lot of effort to make us feel amazed, the restaurant serves beautiful food and the location was stunning, we had the intention of going to Newquay for the evening but ended up staying in the hotel because it was that nice. Look forward to our next visit :-)

I have previously stayed at the Esplanade and was not disappointed again. The general standard of the hotel and it's facilities are excellent. The food served in the restaurant is varied and again top class and whilst on first view may seem a little expensive it is certainly value for money.
However, saving the best for last, you can not buy the view you wake up to in the morning. The beach and surf which greet you is fantastic and well worth paying the little extra for a sea facing room.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the Sea view, worth every penny!

Overpriced 3star. The decor was quite tired in the rooms, reception areas and hallways, you are definitely paying for the hotel's lovely location rather than for the quality of the accommodation. The seating in the main reception area was a bit grubby. We were a bit disappointed with our room, it overlooked a garage type building, had a lot of water damage on the ceiling, long blonde hairs on the bed runner and a collection of hairs in the the plug hole of the shower. I wouldn't have expected that for £100 a night. That being said, the reception staff were nice, the breakfast was good and it was nice that they had a small pool and jacuzzi, these were well kept. It was definitely child friendly.

Hello
I thank you for leaving your feedback. I am sorry you feel that your stay was not worth the money you paid. I am upset to hear this and I would be happy to discuss this with you at any time, we are in the process of decorating the hotel and as you can imagine it not a small task.
It always nice to hear positive comments about the staff and they will be passed on.
Kind Regards

Although we live in Cornwall, we wanted to book a Hotel for a getaway over the Easter break. This was perfect and just what we needed. The Hotel was lovely, clean and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The breakfasts were lovely, everything you could want. It was a bit like a rabbit warren inside, corridors and rooms everywhere but once we got our bearings we were fine. The indoor pool was lovely, with towels provided. We had a sea view room and woke up both mornings to views right across Fistral Beach. We were lucky with the weather and the view couldn't have been nicer. All toiletries were provided and there was a hairdryer in the room, although I didn't get on with it very well. We had dinner in the restaurant on the Saturday night and it was gorgeous. It is said that Newquay Town Centre is a 10 min walk away, I beg to differ. It was more like 20-25 mins but it was quite pleasant when the sun is shining. I would definitely recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view is well worth paying the extra for.
