Enjoyable stay

Had an amazing stay at the Esplanade hotel! The staff
were all so pleasant, rooms were clean, food was tasty and amazing views.

The chef was always so accommodating to all of a dietary requirements and nothing was ever to much hassle which made our stay a lot easier!

There is a variety of activities for the children to do and would highly recommend for younger ages!

All the bar staff/ waitresses were always extremely friendly and always had a smiley face for us.
Special thanks to Chris for being so professional and going above and beyond his duty! Great asset to the team.

We have been meeting a group of friends at the Esplanade every July for 20 years and always enjoyed our stay. The refurbishment that was completed during lockdown is impressive and has enhanced the hotel. There were a couple of issues with service and menu choice but I am sure these will be addressed and resolved as quickly as possible. If you are planning a holiday in Newquay, choose the Esplanade for your stay. You will not be disappointed.

Room tip: Choose a sea view room. The views across Fistral Bay are worth the additional expense.

We took our granddaughters away for a few days and chose the Esplanade because it is right near the beach and the rooms have amazing views. We also stayed here previously for a night on our way down to Falmouth.

The hotel has been revamped and is practical, fresh and bright. They cater very well for families and dogs. The children play well together in the play area, pool and cinema.
The Cove restaurant is very informal and laid back. All the waitressing staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is tasty and the portions are big. Our granddaughter s enjoyed the choice at breakfast. The staff work so hard to keep everything clean - I don’t know how they do it when they are right next to the beach!
Our room was large with a separate bit for the children’s bunk beds. The view was amazing- watching the surfers in the waves. The choice of drinks in the rooms were varied - tea, coffee, hot chocolate with marshmallows and squash with shortbread biscuits. We had an ample supply of towels. Housekeeping worked hard to refresh rooms daily.
We would recommend this hotel for a break for anyone. We would definitely come again.

This hotel has beautiful views of fistral. Really nice decor. Clean room. Firm horrible pillows. The third bed wasn’t made for my son. The hot tub was filthy. Our breakfast was cold and dry, my sons food had a hair in it. I was so relieved that before I went for the brekkie and swim I tried to get one more night. But they wanted to charge from £187 a night to to £260. It’ll be a great hotel if it wasn’t for all those wrong things. But charging the prices they charge. They have to up their game. The customer service isn’t quite up there. And a trainee manager spoke to me. She’s not quite got it.

This was our first visit to the hotel following its extensive refurbishment programme (we had stayed there on several previous occasions).
The refurbishment was evident from the moment that we entered the hotel. Check-in was efficient and friendly, and we were soon in our room. The "wow factor" hit us immediately. The room was spacious and well furnished, with a large wardrobe, plenty of storage and a big wall-mounted TV. The balcony was big, contained two seats and a table, and had good views across Fistral Beach. The bathroom was also roomy - a free-standing bath, a shower cubicle with dual shower heads, and a good range of toiletries. There was a refreshment tray with coffee, tea, biscuits, etc., replenished daily. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard.
So far, so good, but:
The dining arrangements left a lot to be desired. The breakfast menu was standard, as expected, with a wide choice to suit all tastes. However, the dining room was open for other meals all day, with the same fixed menu choices every day. Each item was separately priced. After a few days this became rather limiting. The food was cooked (perfectly) to order and was well presented. That said, service was more often than not very slow even for a half-full dining room. We were surprised that a service charge was applied to our evening meals as we were on a dinner, bed and breakfast tariff and would therefore not expect to see an additional charge for service.
Parking on-site is extremely limited for a hotel of this size, although a parking space can be reserved (for £15 per day!). Off-site parking is on Esplanade Road, but this is a lottery as most spaces are taken up by people going to the nearby beach for surfing.
Other facilities include: swimming pool, cinema room, bar, children's play area, and a spacious lounge.
Overall, the hotel merits its AA 4 Star rating, except for the dining experience.

Thank you so much for your kind words and I will ensure they are passed onto the team. We were delighted that you enjoyed the refurbishment after visiting us prior,
I apologise that you found the menu limiting, we are running on a slightly reduced menu at the moment under the current climate but hope this will not detract from future visits,

We hope to welcome you back in the future,
