“Poolside Villas - lovely warm pool!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2012

We got a deal through Travelzoo and went as two couples, so slight problem with the bedrooms as it had 1 x double and 1 x twin, so we had an arm wrestle for it! The bedrooms were downstairs so it was an upside down layout, both bedrooms had patio doors limited view as it was a bush hiding the car park. Beds were comfy though, rooms spotless clean & TVs. Double bed room had ensuite with bath and twin room there was a shower room and toilet in the hall - so not exactly en-suite but next door. Lovely large dining and lounge area with plenty of seats and tv with dvd player.

Full size kitchen fully equiped including dishwasher BUT plates, cups, cutlery were not that clean (coffee rings inside cups, food still on plates) so I had to put them through the dishwasher before we could use them - take your own dishwasher tablets/powder though as it was not supplied which maybe why things werent clean? (although washing up liquid and cloths were in cupboard under sink).

Internet Wi-Fi and mobile phone reception very sporadic in the villa, each page took several minutes to load like dial-up! BUT in reception of hotel it was fine!

The POOL was wonderful!!! lovely and clean and warm like a bath, we even went in although it was cold and raining and really enjoyed it, at night multi-colour lights make it look magical.

Its set on a hill, multi-level so NOT good for anyone with mobility problems LOTS of steps everywhere, we could not park by our villa, had to park up by reception to carry luggage down steps to villas, then drive car back out and round into car park below our villa but no cut through direct from villa to car. (although a small hole in the hedge allowed us to pass cases through to car saved lugging them up and down stairs).

All, in all a very nice place would come again, not too far from town, just far enough away to get away from the bustle, worth it for the lovely swimming pool!!!!

Room Tip: poolside villas next to wonderful swimming pool, just a quick dash home after a dip!

The villas sleep up to 6 persons with 1 double en-suite, 1 twin room and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The 2nd bathroom is not en-suite so that whoever sleeps on the sofa bed also has a bathroom to use whilst on holiday. We do however have 1 villa which has 2 double rooms and 1 Twin and two of the bedrooms are en-suite.

Unfortunately as we are situated in a valley overlooking the beautiful beach at Porth mobile phone signals is non existent at times. This can be a good thing as you can get away from it all. I understand it can also be frustrating, the team at the Hotel have identified Mobile phone hotspots within the grounds and will be happy to direct you. The wifi in the villas is provided by the same provider as the Hotel so they should work similarly. We did have a problem a few weeks ago with the villas wifi which I managed to rectify by switching off and on again. 1st Rule of Technology. I will speak to our provider to make sure the wifi is not running too slow in the villas.

I am glad you enjoyed the pool, the temperature today is 30C.

Thank you for talking the time in filling in search an informed review and we hope to welcome you back soon.

We got a great deal through Travelzoo and are so glad we went although we did think twice about it beforehand because the weather forecast was not good.

We stayed in a Porth Veor beach view villa (not to be confused with the Beach House). The villa was excellent, very clean, nicely furnished with a view of the beach, a small garden & balcony and our own parking space. We had asked for somewhere quiet and this was perfect.

On our first night we tried their restaurant (Beaucliffes) in the hotel’s conservatory. It was so good we ended up having all of our breakfasts and evening meals there.

The hotel and apartments have free wifi but unfortunately our villa (12) was just out of range to receive it so we had to go into the hotel whenever we wanted access. Not a huge deal but it would have been useful to search for things to do on a rainy day without having to go out into the rain to do it.

The location was good with the beach nearby and it's a pleasant walk into Newquay (although Newquay itself is not for us). We were also hoping to do the coastal walk in the other direction to Watergate Bay and to eat at Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant but unfortunately the rain prevented us from doing that. The National Trust properties Trerice (5 miles) and Lanydrock (20 miles) are well worth a visit and the Screech Owl Sanctuary is 8 miles.

We will definitely return when the weather has improved. The staff were so pleasant and helpful and we loved the setting. Many guests are return visitors to the hotel and villas and I can completely understand why.

Room Tip: Choose a beach view villa if you want it quieter and are happy to be a bit further away from the swi...

I would like to thank this reviewer for their kind comments and choosing Porth Veor Manor for their recent holiday. I would like to point out each individual villa and apartment has its own wifi. Our wifi partner has been really good and we rarely get any problems. However it seems when this guests stayed we did have a problem with several villas. I managed to fix the problem as soon as I could and I am pleased to say it is all up and running again.
Thank you for choosing to eat all you meals with us and I hope to welcome you back soon. Don't forget to use your 40% return guest discount.

We just held our wedding at Porth Veor and had an amazing time! A very big thankyou to ALL the staff who helped make our day so special. Nothing was too much trouble and Andrew & Gary made it hassle free! The rooms were comfortable and clean and the food excellent. Highly recommended for a wedding or even just a nights stay!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 24 which had excellent views over the beach.

We have just stayed at the Veor Manor Hotel and found it to be in a fantastic location, overlooking bay and cliff walks.
The food was of a good standard.
The rooms very clean
The staff attentive.
The facilities very good, swimming pool, putting area, nice patio and conservatory dinang area. The Bar was comfortable and wellcoming.

We have just enjoyed our third stay at The Porth Veor and once again we can't fault it!

We stayed in a two bedroom villa which opens out onto the pool.It is very comfortable , clean , modern and spacious. Everything is very well maintained.

The heated pool is wonderful and the kids were in every spare second ,even on the extremely rainy and fairly cold Easter Monday afternoon. We just wish it opened earlier as the kids sit there in their costumes as soon as breakfast is finished asking over and over " how long til 10 am?". We understand that the pool opens then so as not to disturb the guests in the other villas surrounding the pool. That's fair enough. Not everyone has young kids who wake up at the crack of dawn!

We have now booked our fourth stay so will be returning next summer. I don't think we could find a more perfect place to stay in Cornwall. It's the combination of the comfort of the villa, the great pool and the close proximity to Porth Bay which keeps us coming back for more.

Thanks Porth Veor for yet another fantastic Easter holiday!

Room Tip: We love villa 1 as the living space is very large and it opens out directly onto the pool area.

We stayed in Cornwall for a few days (not here) and had booked a meal at the Beaucliffe's restaurant here as it was described as "Fine dining!". It did not disappoint... the meal was superb and the service friendly and attentive. We had the standard 3 course dinner with coffee for £29.95 and felt it was excellent value for what we had. There were three of us dining together and we chose 3 different starters, the pigeon breast on a bed of salad, the carpacheo of beef and the cheese and spinach ravioli. All 3 were delightful. For our mains two of us chose the rack of lamb whilst my husband had the steak. Again cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The worst thing about the meal was having to choose from such a wonderful menu, our desserts again were bliss, two of us choosing the smooth chocolate torte served with clotted cream ice cream and a brandy snap wafer, and the third chose a vanilla pannecotta served with a champagne sorbet and a shortbread biscuit.
In short, a definite recommendation from us all!!
We didn't stay in the hotel as I said but would certainly look to stay there in the future.

stayed for one night at this hotel and can only say it was very clean, well presented and the staff were very friendly, provided excellent service especiallly the receptionist and also in the restaurant which I have to add the food was very good at dinner and breakfast although a bit pricey but would have been okay if you used the restaurant for a special occasion as it was open to the public, would definitely stay again.
