Sands Resort Hotel & Spa

Returning to Sands hotel, it was reassuring to be greeted again by the friendly and welcoming staff. I was soon checked into one of their large family rooms. These are well equipped with flat screen TVs (2 in this room) and an immaculate modern bathroom.
This is my third visit, and going into dinner I was impressed by the newly refurbished dining room. This has been tastefully decorated in a contemporary style with Eames style chairs and a calming brown and cream colour scheme. This is a chic, smart room for adults to enjoy a sophisticated meal from an excellent menu.
Since my visit last year, the hotel has also built a state of the art gym, for those enthusiasts who enjoy a workout each day. It looked impressive, but I was heading for the Spa, where I worked off the stresses of everyday life with a wonderful aromatherapy back massage. Highly recommended! I hope to return again next year.

We recently had a short, 3 night stay at Sands which was our 2nd stay there within 12 months.
Why we love this hotel? The location is superb, fabulous sea views and a short distance from the beautiful Watergate Bay.
We stayed in a Contemporary suite which is ideal for parents who want a bit of privacy. The separate childrens bedroom is more than adequate, and has a tv and dvd player. The main bedroom/living area is very spacious and boasts those sea views we adore. The decor is contemporary and its lovely and clean.
The facilities are great with an indoor pool, play area and soft play. Ideal for when the weather is not your friend. Outside there is also a pool. more play areas, maze, tennis courts mini golf etc. Plenty to keep you and the children amused.
Our 3yr old took advantage of the childrens clubs and thoroughly enjoyed herself. This gave me the chance for a couple of hours in the Spa - bliss!!
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the baby listening service gives the parents a chance to have a grown-up meal in peace :o)
We shall be visiting again - keep an eye out for the Filler Breaks, good value for money.

Room Tip: Contemporary Suites very spacious with the privacy you'd want - plus those sea views!

I recently stayed for a short break - the third time I have visited Sands Resort Hotel. The impressive sight of the hotel sitting proudly on the spectacular cliff top is always exciting, and the rather plain exterior belies the bright, contemporary interior decor. The staff are very welcoming and are keen to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are clean, spacious and very well equiped for both families and the single visitor. All the hotel facilities are excellent - I especially enjoyed my early morning swims, and was lucky enough to have the pool to myself. The newly constructed gym - soon to be open -has plenty of fitness machines and equipment to suit all standards. The dining room has had a winter make over - and is very tastefully furnished - providing an excellent dining experience with a varied menu and well cooked food. I would not hesitate to recommend the Sands Resort Hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights - and were very impressed. The contemporary room we were in was very comfortable - as good as any hotel I have stayed in - with a queen size bed. The bunk bed and single bed were in a different adjoining room, giving parents that extra bit of privacy. It had tvs in both rooms and a Play Station (DVD/games available from reception).

We ate in the hotel each night, with a decent range of choices for both adults and children. The children's tea and children's clubs facilitate adult only dining in a separate room (but it is worth booking this early to ensure they have space). The food is certainly better than I was expecting - particular highlights were the scallops, a duck/stilton/walnut salad, steak to die for and the profiteroles which were very light. As a stand alone restaurant I would rate it 4 stars (and the dishes mentioned make the 5 star level).

Breakfast was good - with a varied buffet (hot and cold) - bacon, sausage regulars, egg served in various ways on different days, and a range of accompaniments. Filter or cafetiere coffee, tea brought to the table by the inobtrusive serving staff.

The facilities of the hotel include a heated swimming pool, a new modern gym, a 9 hole golf course, table tennis, a kids play area including maze, croquet (all free - clubs/bats for golf and tennis provided, balls extra cost), games room with ice hockey and pool (at modest cost).

One asset this hotel definitely has is a well trained, friendly staff. The speed with which staff appear to serve in the bar is impressive, as is the flexibility (e.g. we went to the games area when a staff member was hoovering, he immediately stopped and moved to another area).

The hotel has broadband in the contemporary rooms and good wireless in the lobby and games room.

Extras (drinks, stufff to use in the swimming pools, lunch) were not overpriced.

We will visit again - as have many of the other guests from what I saw! You get what you pay for. I feel more relaxed than I have in years.

Room Tip: I would probably choose a first floor room over ground floor rooms 10-19, because at night the fire...

We have now been to the Sands Resort for the New Year Hosue Party twice, and had a fantastic time each time. The staff of very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained and therefore happy, which means the adults have a great time.
I would defintatley go back and would recommend it to anyone with kids.
We have also stayed at the resort at other times of the year and had a great time too.

Our 3rd visit to the Sands did not disappoint. We love this hotel for its wonderful reception staff, great food and wonderful kids clubs and entertainment. Our kids love it too. The large contemporary rooms are ideal for a family of four and how wonderful to wake up to the sight of the ocean. Rainy days are easily filled with entertainment, swimming and coffees with the paper while the kids have a happy 2 hours in kids club. Such a relaxing happy place for busy families.
