We spent 5 nights over Easter with dinner, bed and breakfast. Once our boys discovered the evening club with children of similar ages they ate early at the childrens tea allowing us parents to eat our 3 course meal alone overlooking the clifftops and seaview. The food was good and the setting lovely.

We ate with our boys the first few evenings in the section reserved for 8+ years. This was a nice family experience with waiter service and 3 courses. Water brought to the table as a matter of course and no issue with the children choosing from either the kids or the adults menu.

There's a great 9 hole pitch and putt course on site which we all loved and acres of space for the children (12 and 8) to roam safely in. The staff couldn't be friendlier and there's lots for the children to do indoors and outdoors. With an on site gym for adults, everyone is catered for. Wish we had discovered it earlier. Kids clubs run to age 12 and there was entertainment most days including visits from local attractions like the aquarium and magicians, comedians, etc.

A thoughtfully provided holiday for all.

Room Tip: We found the family suites overlooking the outdoor pool very good - some separation from the childre...

Just returned from a fabulous 4 day break at the Sands Resort! 6 girls with 12 children between us (aged 3m - 3 1/2) and this hotel exceeded all our expectations. Thoughtful attention to detail and attentive, friendly and helpful staff made this hotel stand out. Bottle warmers and sterilisers provided on request, DVD player in rooms, great outdoor play areas with zip wire and pirate ship, soft play room and a lovely warm indoor swimming pool made it easy to keep kids busy and happy on site. Children's tea really well done and the baby listening service manned at reception meant that all the adults could relax over a 'grown up' dinner in the evening. Watergate beach is a short walk or drive and we found this great for the kids, with lovely food in beach cafe. Lots of other attractions/fab beaches nearby. Thoroughly recommend for a break that gives every member of the family chance to relax.

Room Tip: Ask for upstairs with sea view for great sunset and morning sun streaming through the large windows...

We stayed for six nights just after the Easter peak season. I was really delighted at how lovely and helpful the staff were and the quality of the rooms and food and the wide range of activities and facilities for the children. We got a really good deal, going out of season, and I would say it was outstanding value for money. My only gripe is that the showers were very weedy in the comfort suite we stayed in - and the bath was very small so not great for adults. I can imagine that if you've been on the beach all day, getting rid of the sand would not be much fun - but I'm told the showers are to be improved in the winter. Also - just a minor one, we were woken up several times in the night by screaming babies next door. Not sure there's any solution to that one unless there is a special zone for families with babies. But perhaps that's not viable out of season or in a family hotel. In any case we would definitely stay again as it's fabulously located with so much to do close by - never mind the wonderful Atlantic view and fantastic beaches in walking distance. Thanks very much Sands Resort.

Room Tip: We had were on the second floor which had a fantastic ocean view, but no lift - so that's to be...

I was luck enough to stay here on one of those rare days in the early part of 2013 where the sun came out.
This is family run hotel and as such has an enthusiasm and lovely add ons - eg fancy handmade soap that a chain wouldn't run to.
From the outside its fairly none descript - long slung and officey even, but inside modern and lovingly looked after with good art work.
Very much a family hotel - but a fair old walk to the beach for small ones - still that tires them out :)

Room Tip: Sea view !

Thank you to the Sands Hotel for a lovely stay! Our 21 month old thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities available to him (playroom, soft play, parks, swimming pool!) and we all had a good time.

Positioned well to access lovely beaches, bays and ports across this area of Cornwall. Rooms and facilities were clean and well presented - we enjoyed the 2 rooms in our suite! Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly/

The only downside for me was that as we were half board we ate in the hotel every night and the menu was a bit too much! The addition of a few perhaps more simple dishes (pizzas? spaghetti?) would have meant i didn't go to bed feeling the desperate need to diet every night! (Some would say, why did i eat it all.... I'm 19 weeks pregnant, i don't turn down food! :) )

I enjoyed a antenatal hydrotherapy massage in the spa - very nice :)

Overall, a great time!

Room Tip: We had a sea facing suite - great if you have kids as we shut their door and enjoyed our evening!

Sands Resort exceeded our expectations. They had thought of everything to make our visit a real holiday for the grown ups, as well as brilliant fun for the children. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was bright and spacious, and the food and facilities were outstanding. We had dinner together five nights in a row, while the children slept (and reception provided a listening service). The rain didn't matter as the Kids Clubs, soft play, swimming pool, gym, bouncy castle and evening events kept us all entertained. We wish we'd discovered Sands earlier and will definitely be back this summer.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the middle of the corridor, so the doors and people passing at either end don't...

We were a little apprehensive about staying here as it seemed to be aimed at families and not couples. We had two nights booked and were very surprised. The Hotel is internally divided so that people with children of all ages are made to feel comfortable and couples also have areas where children are not allowed after 8pm. Perfect. Breakfast had us in a separate dining room from those with children and the activities for children are amazing. If our child was young now he would love it.
The staff are the most friendly and helpful we have come across in a long time and speaking to one of the staff we asked them if they liked working there because they were smiling all the time. Their reply was definitely and they actually love coming to work and it showed.
In as much as some of the bedrooms need a bit of a 'freshen up' we understand that a hotel that caters for families would not have the most up to date furniture in the rooms but they make up for it in the restaurant and lounge and bar.
I would recommend this for couples as well as for families. Great location.

Room Tip: Try for the third floor as we could hear the people walking about on the floor above us. Just a sha...
