“Perfect resort for young children”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

We stayed here for 4 nights in peak season (the weekend of Boardfest) with our 2 kids aged 6 & 3. Without doubt, this is the best family hotel we've stayed in. A key feature for us was the room layout; most of the rooms have a separate sleeping area for the kids. Bliss! Plans of room layouts can be viewed online, which is really handy. Also the free baby listening service was amazing. Our children loved the kids's clubs, which again gave the grown ups quality time. The hotel is obviously geared towards youngish kids and nothing has been overlooked. Even when it's fully booked, the hotel never feels busy. There were never queues and we were able to book activities at short notice. Prices in the bar are really reasonable and most on-sight facilities are free, so there are no hidden charges. In fact, you could quite easily never leave the hotel whilst spending very little money. There's so much for young kids to do. The dining system worked great for us. Kids teas are served from 4:45pm and are buffet style. There was always plenty of choice, including fruit and veg. Then we packed our kids off to kids' club or used the baby listening service and enjoyed dinner in the adults only dining room. As anyone with young kids will know, the usual let down of a family friendly hotel is the food, but this isn't the case at Sands...I would say it's fine(ish!) dining meets school canteen efficiency. This is perfect for families. I have high standards when it comes to dining and used to work in the industry. Even I was impressed! Lastly, the best bit about the hotel were the staff; without exception, they were friendly, polite, helpful and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. They could not do enough for you, especially the guys at reception.

With so much for the kids to do, and such effort put in to looking after them, the grown ups can actually feel like they are on holiday. It was a challenge to get them out of kids' club, they enjoyed it so much, while the food in the adults' dining room in the evening was consistently great - best of both worlds.

Perfect for our family of 6! - with lots of little ones it was a great break for us and the kids. With the kids clubs and listening service we got to have quality parent time. Restaurant quality food was a pleasant surprise. Beaches are fantastic - Holywell, Trevone and Constantine beaches our favourites.

Everyone working at the hotel had such natural friendly helpful relaxed nature

Room Tip: Check the room plans, and book early if you have lots of kids!

We have just returned from a week at Sands Resort Hotel and whilst it is difficult to be negative because the facilities are pretty good, it was not for us. It is ideal for young families with children under the age of 5 who are happy with that sort of holiday! For us it lacked the wow factor. It is clean, it is tidy, there is plenty to do but just not what we had expected, that being relaxing and quiet! We timed our visit at the same time a huge festival was taking place ( without prior knowledge of it being such close proximity to the hotel). This was a huge disruption to our holiday making the noise in our room unbearable. There was a roar of constant traffic coming into Watergate Bay, worse over the festival period and heightened by festival revellers wandering past continually. The hotel did offer us 10% reduction of our holiday cost which we accepted and they moved us further back from the road for the last 3 nights of our stay. Apparently the Hotel is not obliged to alert guests as the disruption is not on their land but I would certainly recommend you check before booking. The staff were sweet, and really helpful, and the facilities for children were good, although my children didn't do any clubs, we did make use of the outdoor pool, tennis court and pitch and putt. The breakfast was good and the kids tea was good. However, we decided to eat at The Watergate Bay hotel for most of our evening meals as the food was more to our liking over looking the sea and in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The hotel dealt with my complaint about festival professionally but I still felt that my choice to stay was not an informed choice and would not want to return.

An excellent family hotel, all needs for children are catered for and the hotel has brilliant facilities and very friendly staff, food and drink prices reasonable. We recently had a great break here with 11 and 13yr old niece and nephew.
However, I do not feel room prices are not that cheap and bearing this in mind there were a few problems with the room, firstly coming out of the bathroom there was a huge hole in the floor covered over by carpet, this is obviously where water has leaked from the bathroom but it was a poor attempt to cover up, also the paintwork needed a refresh and there were some unsightly stains on a lampshade and quilt cover. Also, my niece found the outdoor pool was very cold. Some attention to smaller details would have improved the stay considerably but overall if you have children you will not be disappointed by this hotel, I would recommend and stay again. If you are a couple I would probably feel the amount of children at the resort a little overwhelming and would advise you stay at Watergate Bay.

Room Tip: Ground floor room very good location but child area has no natrul light

Every year I am surprised to see the same staff at Sands Resort. This must be a good place to work! It's certainly an excellent place to stay and always delivers a restful and fun holiday. Our children love coming here and are safe to spend time in and around the hotel doing what they please whilst we have quiet time. It really is a proper holiday.

After a long and tiring journey we were greeted with a warm welcome at this hotel. Staff were always at our beck and call and always happy to go the extra mile. Both our children loved all the activities the hotel provided to keep them occupied. Fantastic facilities for adults too! The hotel caters for a wide range of palates and each day there is something different on the menu. Our family rooms offered lots of space. Our room had two bathrooms - which were really handy! The hotel has wifi and a play station in the room for older children. I would definitely come and stay here again!

Room Tip: Choose the family rooms upstairs
