Owner description: From the local Cornish coast to the dazzling beauty of the Tropical Reef, Newquay Blue Reef aquarium has an exciting world of underwater adventure waiting to be discovered. More than 40 innovative displays vividly bring to life the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, whilst regular feeding displays, rock-pool workshops and informative talks provide a fun and fascinating day out. Visitors can enjoy the closest of undersea encounters with amazing aquatic life including seahorses, giant octopus, pulsating Jellyfish and fierce Piranha. At the aquariums heart is a spectacular coral reef display housed within a 250,000 litre ocean tank - home to exotic tropical species like black tip reef sharks and Omiros the rescued loggerhead turtle. As well as hundreds of brightly-coloured reef fish and a huge Southern Stingray. Enjoy the sheer beauty of the display by taking a journey through its very own underwater tunnel, as well as through a number of viewing portholes, a floor to ceiling window and even enjoy close encounters from the surface - where Omiros often likes to pop up to say hello! Situated on Towan Promenade in the heart of Newquay, Blue Reef Aquarium not only offers a beach on its doorstep but also an amazing experience, whatever the weather!

We used out Tesco vouchers, and had a nice hour in here with our 2 year old. There were lots of tanks and the large turtle was a hit!

I wish I had read the reviews first as we paid over £30 to go in and that was using a discount voucher and it was over within about 15 minutes!! We quequed for ages to get in so was very disappointed when it was all over so fast. You have to leave prams/buggies by reception, of which there were loads so you have to squeeze them in and then find it again when you've finished. The toilet with the baby changing facilities was a bit dirty too. There isn't a great deal to look at and the place is small for the amount you are charged to go in. Wouldn't recommend even if the weather is bad as definitely not worth the money.

Hi Kellalco,

Thank you for your review we value all feedback. At Blue Reef we offer the space to leave your push chair at the reception desk if you wish, but also allow them to be taken through the displays. It is totally up to the customers. We are sorry if there was any confusion about this.
