We came here for my 30th birthday weekend in Newquay, we stayed the 9th and 10th aug and as it was boardmasters we understood that we would be paying over the odds for a basic room - however this room was so basic it was like stepping back into the 70's (not in a good way!) The mattress was completely dipped on one side and very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was dark, dingy and dirty. Every single floor board creaked as you moved! Breakfast was served till 8.30am - NO exceptions (like the fact that on my 30th i might like a lay in!!!) we made it down for breakfast on the first morning and instantly regretted the decision, the food was over cooked, little choice and bad quality - much nice available cheaply at a cafe 2 min walk away. The only 2 things this place had going for it was Location - stumbling distance from the town and the Barman who we had a great chat with before we went out one evening - a diamond in the dirt!

I have just returned form this hotel as part of a coach holiday with National Travel, what a fantastic location just across the road from a quiet beach, check in pleasant and swift, I was totally impressed that lady on reception could remember our room numbers, all the staff were great, the waiter service at meal times was swift, food excellent with a good choice, rooms were pleasant, unfortunately the stunning view I had was of the carpark, but I do realise that single rooms often are harder to obtain at the front of hotels, room well laid out, clean and well maintained, nice that they provided a mug to drink from rather than a small cup, plenty of storage space, the only thing we struggled with was as friend had mobility issues, waiting for the doors of the lift to close before could press the button for the floor was a slight inconvenience, but would definitely recommend

Room Tip: Beware if you have mobility issues that you need to be on a floor that the lift stops at to avoid st...

having just stayed at this hotel for 4 days aug 16th with national holidays I was appalled at the state of this hotel. upon arrival we found the room hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants. the bathroom was filth the light fitting was hanging down kettle was full of dirt cups filthe and promotional leaflets scattered on floor at side of bed. the furniture in room was shocking needs a total refurb. manageress promised to have the room cleaned the following morning which she did do. on return from our day out we found the ligtfitting dangling from the ceiling and the ceiing had come down all over the floor. I reported this to an extremely rude receptionist called jean who told me to go to the next floor and use a bath in another guests room. national holidays should never send people to this hotel. advice do not touch this hotel with a bargepole .
