We've had an Easter break in Newquay this year and stayed at the Narrowcliff. The hotel is a bit tired but there is a new manager and the staff and food were wonderful, served on time and not a mixed up meal in sight. The staff bent over backwards to make it a pleasant stay, they even did a special breakfast for my grandson and cooked his food just how he wanted it. Beds were a bit uncomfortable and the place needs some refurb money spending on it, but we were told that was the owner, not the manager and staff.

All in all it served its purpose, a place to eat and sleep at a bargain price (£24 b/b) and we had a very nice holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view!

We stayed at this hotel over the Easter holidays. On arrival we were given a very small room
at the back of the hotel. The bathroom was very small and only one person at a time could
get into it. The shower had seen better days and had very little pressure on the shower. The water in the shower was almost cold although the water in the taps was very hot. The room was very warm but you could regulate this yourself. The bed linen was lovely and clean so were the towels although we never got them changed during our stay. (3 days).

The staff were very nice and nothing was to much trouble for them, they did their best
with what they had. The whole hotel needs a complete refurbishment although there is
some work in progress it's not enough. Would I stay here again NO.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view but you might not get it.

We had an Easter week-end break at this hotel
The rooms were in need of refurbishing but the sheets & towels were clean. The restruant need more experienced waiting staff.the manager stood in as a waiter to help, he brought us all the wrong meals & told us we had to have them as it was set meals, he was rude & aggressive ,that was the first evening. They need more waiting staff to get the meals from the kitchen to the customer befor they go cold.! Dinner took 2hrs .

Just home after a Easter break away with David Urquhart and it really is as bad as everyone says.
There were two coaches here and everyone including the drivers had nothing good to say about the place.
Waiting 50 minutes to be served breakfast or taking 2hrs for dinner isn't much fun when you have to ask the staff for your dinner that you ordered at breakfast time.
Peeling wallpaper, leaking ceilings, dirty, mouldy rooms, need I go on.
If your tour operator is going to Newquay then check to see where they are sending you first.
Owner/ manager (Kevin) extremely rude and arrogant although he did have lots of problems to sort out with his hotel but that was no excuse for his behavior.
Reduced my partner to tears the first night when he raised his voice and argued with her at dinner.
Other staff were very friendly but poorly trained.

Was rather concerned having read previous accounts of guests stays and it is true to say that this rather tired and run down hotel is in urgent need of a refurb. Having said that, our room had a great sea view. It was clean and warm with adequate en-suite facilities. The dining room was large and the menu simple but very good and with plenty of variety at every meal. The bar was very good and the staff exceptional, being both very friendly and polite. Entertainment was put on twice in our stay and was great. All in all, we enjoyed a pleasant stay but it is fair to say that we would have preferred to stay in a better hotel and would have willingly paid a little more to do so.

Awful room, dirty, bed seen better days, shower not clean, would not stay again if offered money to do so. I accept we were part of coach with national but this was by far the worst place we have stayed. However have to say the food was very good and the staff were friendly, just the whole
place needs a big refurb, although some other guest's said rooms were OK, others agreed terrible, seems pot luck as to what room you get.

Room Tip: Don't go.

Just returned from this hotel (16 - 20 Sept 2013), I was worried after reading previous reviews but was pleasantly suprised, OK it is old fashioned and dated but as my sister and I paid only £140 for the five day coach trip we were not expecting the Ritz. Any money spent on renovations will not be recovered with increased fees.
Our room was small and the wallpaper and furnishings were a little shabby, the beige bathroom suite had a white toilet seat!!. However it was cleaned with fresh towels daily. Our bath was huge and had a plentiful supply of very hot water, which due to the weather was very aappreciated indeed.
Our view was of the car park, we were twin room so always expect lesser views, the doubles on the front had lovely sea views, but at 9am the surfers used this as a changing room so not all bad!!.
The beds and pillows were quite hard, which I like and often do not get in hotels, bedding all clean without signs of wear which is always a postive.
Food is served to you with exception of the self serve cereals in the morning, the full English is not the biggest I've ever had but you can eat as much toast, cereal or fruit as you want. All the food was lovely (and I'm a picky vegeterian) so definately no complaints there. Deserts were huge.
The bar was OK, barman was very nice, helpful and chatty and the entertainment was more fun than was expected!! Actually all the staff were pleasant not sure where other reviews got the idea the staff were rude from.
Overall the experience was cheap but good, I would not return but then I dont intend to return to Falmouth.
A nice touch was all the staff coming out on the morning we left and waved us off.
