“PACK DETTOL WIPES AND A VACUUM CLEANER!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

The hotel needs to hold on to its members of staff, especially the more senior lady at reception who proved to be particularly helpful. These people were the best thing about the hotel and they could do well elsewhere.

We had to ask for our room to be vacuum cleaned and it took two days to get this done in the most perfunctory way as we discovered when we moved one of the beds in order to pick up a dropped item. It was unhygienic under there and this was not only due to the dust! The bedding was clean and we slept alright but we did not dare to lift sheets after seeing the state of the room. The drawers were dusty and contained hairs so we were pleased we'd taken anti-bacterial wipes.

This may be a budget hotel used by coach firms but others we've stayed at have always been clean and of a similar price. I'm surprised that the National Express coach firm still use it. An inspection by someone travelling incognito as a coach passenger may be what is needed.

Do the owners of the hotel pay for cleaning? If so, they must be mad as it's money down the drain! They should simply hand out Dettol wipes to guests as they arrive!

I feel sorry for guests arriving this week.

We have just returned from a National Holiday trip we wish we had not gone on as the hotel spoiled it all. The nearest you want to be to this hotel is on the road passing it at the maximum speed limit allowed. We have done lots of National holidays and have had good and not so good hotels but this hotel is way below an acceptable level and spoiled what would have been a good holiday. It is the first time we heard people say they could not wait to get on the coach home.

We stayed at this hotel with National Holidays & the hotel was so bad the driver complained to head office! The hotel is DIRTY! It was so bad we kept our clothes in suitcase! Food is sub standard and we had to eat our meals elsewhere! Patronising staff! Not one positive comment regarding this hotel!

This hotel is budget, but you pay for what you get. Pay peanuts get sunpat. I found no fault here for the price, yes it's tired but the staff are brilliant. The receptionist/manager was so helpful so full marks there. The breakfast was scrummy and hot, so can't complain, and the bedding and towels were clean. If you want more for your money you won't find it here, pay more and stay elsewhere. I for sure was not expecting anything less. Will I return, no not any day soon but yes when redecorated and don't let that stop you booking here.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have excellent sea view

I read the reviews before i went, and thought cant be that bad, well what can i say, went on a coach trip with national holidays as a single person, for me the hotel wasnt the best, well shabby and needs updating, wouldnt stay there if i had children, but was ok for me, breakfast was ok got better as the week went by, big up to the lovely lad who served in the dinning room Alex, and the lovely night porter come barman steve, they did a fantastic job. was a bit like faulty towers but you had to laugh, lots of complaints, manager was very witty, and had a very laid back attitude, if it wasnt for the people that i shared the coach trip with, i dont think i would have enjoyed myself so much. so if anyone does decide to book this hotel dont expect the ritz.

stayed the 5/6 aug.went up to my room no bigger than a shoe box, went to take a shower closed shower curtain only to find a disposable razor behind it left by a previous guest behind it,when the entertainment started you could swear they were singing in the room no soundproofing at all,the cooked breakfast in morning served on a side plate.would not recommend it at all.0/10
