Visited The Quies Newquay at the start of June. Had a beautiful time.

The staff were very welcoming and can't do enough to help. Breakfast was A+ and service was equally as good.

Hotel has a free pool table and also has a large selection of DVDs to borrow and return the next day.

As far as cleanliness is concerned the hotel couldnt have been better looked after. The bathrooms could easily have been given 5* as they looked stunning!

Great place to stay! A short walk from the business of town! Will be returning as soon as possible.

The Quies in Newquay is, overall, a nice place to stay.

The staff there are friendly and professional, and helped me out when I had a query about local amenities. The facilities in the hotel are great, including a games room, free juice, free access to borrow a wide range of DVDs (with DVD player in your room) and free wireless internet.

My room was very spacious and nicely decorated (though I wasn't a huge fan of the trendy but dark bathroom walls), and is well soundproofed from the traffic outside. My only two negative points were that I could hear the occupants of the room above as they walked (stomped) around, and so would question how sound-insulated the ceiling/flooring is (though I couldn't hear any conversations or such); and also that rooms' doors, if not shut carefully, tended to shut noisily.

Breakfast was very nice, offering generous helpings and cooked well.

Also, location is great, being just 1 minute walk to the town centre.

So overall, a good choice of place to stay if you're after somewhere with unpretentious staff and good facilities.

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were made to feel comfortable. We were shown where things were around the ground floor and then taken up to out room. How many times has this happened to you when you've stayed anywhere recently? It's more usual to be given a key and directions to follow.

The room itself was at the top of the house. It looked out over the roof of the neighbouring church to the sea beyond. There were also good views to the left over the town and to the right we could see the coastline from the balcony.

The room has all the usual you'd expect; tea and coffee, TV, but the DVD player was a nice touch (there is a library of DVDs downstairs to borrow). The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was nicely finished, there were adequate good towels, soap dispensers, and a good shower.

There was another room attached to ours with two single beds so the 'suite' could sleep 2 + 2.

Breakfast was tasty, hot and plentiful. Apart from the usual fry-up there was a selection of cereals, fruit and slices of ham and cheese for those liking a continental touch. It was also possible to order bacon or sausage sandwiches or scrambled eggs if I remember correctly.

Tea, coffee and orange juice were there for the taking at any time of the day on a help yourself basis. There were also plates and cutlery to use should you wish to bring in or order a take-away, the hotel doesn't do any food other than the breakfast.

The whole place has a friendly atmosphere which I liked a lot. The people running the place (the word 'staff' just doesn't do them justice) were helpful and polite.

What would I change? Not a lot. Sugar bowls at breakfast would be nice rather than opening little packets to pour on cereals, and either clean or get rid of that water cooler! But if that's all I can fault, you can see there are not many problems here.

Thanks for the stay.

Room Tip: The best rooms are possibly the top ones.

We booked one of the 2 rooms with a balcony/sea view, £60 per night B&B and well worth every penny. While the hotel is on a main road, we could not hear any traffic noise. The car park was a little awkward to get in and out of but there was always a space, and the people running the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They're happy for you to bring takeaways etc back and use their crockery/cutlery, and there was free (and fast!) internet access available. Breakfast was great, loads of choice. All in all, a marvellous choice, we'd definitely go back and recommend it to others

Room Tip: Book the one with the balcony!
